Goose Eggs...?

This is something strange that happened last year and yet again today, one day before Easter, ironically.
There are a lot of wild ducks and geese here and last year I found three large goose eggs in the pond in front of my house on three separate occasions.
Today, I went for a walk because it was a great day and yet again, I found another large goose egg on a random, open location.
This is pretty funny, in my opinion but I have no idea why it happens. Does not seem to happen with ducks though they have a lot of nests around here.

Thats a good question, I have no idea. Maybe the ducks break up the goose nests to elimminate competition?
