Gore's Own Inconvenient Truths....

You don't have a choice. Global warming hysteria is no place to start looking for energy policy. I'd love to see our use of oil/coal/gas cut to a bare minimum but what is the alternative? The environmental loons won't let nuclear plants be built and they are the most environmentally friendly of the reasonable alternatives for power generation. The French, much to their credit, have shown that it works and works well.

Much of this makes me really wonder how much of this Gore actually believes in and how much is just simple politics? So far, I am leaning more the "just simple politics" direction.

What's wrong with a guy trying to make some money? Are you a communist? :p

Most people like that are hypocrites. My school's AP Environmental Science teacher (a "pansy-dandy" liberal) drives an SUV yet makes every student collect all their garbage, and bring it with them everywhere they go, for three days. Advocates' hypocrisy does not necessarily mean that what they are advocating is incorrect, though.

Man, I'm not being nitpicky or argumentative - I'm just asking that a statement made (and co-signed) in the thread be backed up with a TAD of reasoning behind it. Or is the bias so strong against either Al Gore or the concept of Global Warming that you just suffer a knee-jerk emotion of disgust when they're mentioned?
The lack of response disappoints me. I was wondering the same thing. Especially because without blinking the hypocrit statement will be repeated in the future with as much argumentation behind it. And around and around we go

It doesn't exist because I drive an SUV either. In fact it probably doesn't exist at all.

And your basis for that absurd claim is...

Republicans don't need evidence for their claims. Everything is obvious when you are not a loony lefty.

The problem with people defending Gore is the fact that once he says something and he does not do it, he is an hypocrite plain and simple. It does not matter what he says is the truth or not, but the fact that he does not actually believe what he says is the truth. iF he can show that he is working out ways to solve thos prbolems, then he is not an hyprocrite, but right now it does not appear that he is trying to correct the failures to keep his word.

And that's that, then? After reading the thread, this is what you really believe is the sum total of this article and the debate around it?

I give up. I must have a completely different world view ...

I happen to be pro-nuclear power, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say we do have a choice, just both sides of the political spectrum are unable to do the necessary steps.

Right: so we know Gore promotes recycling and energy efficiency. Show me the part where the article shows that he doesn't recycle and is wasteful with energy.

Mob Boss challenges the religion of the left again.

I like the third person aspect in this thread is amusing.

The article trolled the left (apparently); or maybe attacked Gore's lifestyle.
The Right pretended to support the article.

Still no brainwashed 'Gore is a hypocrite' republicans providing evidence that he doesn't recycle or employ energy efficient lightbulbs in his houses...

Republican 1 - "You know I saw him light a cigar once."

Republican 2 - "What, you mean he actually burned something?! Well, he obviously doesn't take that greenhouse gas stuff seriously. That proves there is no such thing as global warming."

:mischief:

Is Al Gore the only person who has made hippacrateacal comments???
Thursday, 19 April, 2001 "We must work to eliminate or at least to severely restrict the release of these toxins without delay," Mr Bush said.

Heres something he said later on

Sunday, 20 May, 2001 When George W Bush stood up on Thursday and addressed the autocue in that special way of his, he delivered a speech which completely recast America's energy policy.

I as the President believe that I have no other choice but to cancel the Kyoto Protocol . America's richest state, California, suffers power blackouts on a regular basis, and others could follow.

I think he means Global warming - a well supported Scientific theory. The religion of the right of course is Creationism - a load of ********.

Ah crud, does that mean Al Gore is our prophet? what a weenie!

Oh...my....gosh. Your blanket attacks and broad brush labeling are really crap.

The religion of the right is NOT creationism....regardless of your broad brush strokes.

As for Global warming...I dont doubt its occuring and I even acknowledge that mankind is influencing it.....but to what degree remains to be seen.

As for this thread. The overall point is not necessarily is Gore a hypocrit...almost all your politicians are regardless anyways....but rather my opinion is Al Gore isnt a "true believer" in global warming as some would think and that he is merely using this platform for his own gain.

The point is, if the republicans were viewed as being stronger on global warming, Al Gore wouldnt have touched it with a ten foot pole.
