A bit (very) late getting the results out for this....

In this game, it was a return to the top of the leaderboard for hendrickszoon, and a return of the massive gap between him and second place - a staggering 68,000 points over second! In second place, A'AbarachAmadan grabbed second - and another award (fastest domination). Third place on the leaderboard actually went to karmina, although as it was a 'adventurer' class entry, it was ineligable for an award (we expect to see contender or challenger entries from now on, based on this performance! :D) The medal therefore went to Johan511.

Summary of Medal Winners:

hendrikszoon: 1595 AD Conquest Victory, 250,417 points.

A'AbarachAmadan: 960 AD Domination Victory, 182,576 points.

Johan511: 1725 AD Domination Victory, 118,872 points.

Master Madness: 1966 AD Domination Victory, 31,388 points.

AU_Armageddon: 1966 AD Conquest Victory, 26,733 points.

red_elk: 1928 AD Diplomatic Victory, 15,818 points.

Solenoozerec: 2008 AD Spaceship Loss, 11,168 points.

Lawrence: 1978 AD Spaceship Victory, 10,177 points.

Fror: 1967 AD Cultural Victory, 6,010 points.

deadloss: 125 BC Conquest Loss, 147 points.

Congratulations to all participants. We had a great time, didn't we?

As a sidenote, if you order the Victories by real-time employed, Cutural Victories come out ahead by far... and I come out almost last, as usual :-(. Maybe I should try Cultural games when I am pressed for time.

After playing the GOTMs/COTMs and now the 4OTMs for such a long time, it's finally happened. Woo-hoo!

I finally got my name in lights. For all the wrong reasons, of course, but at last the World now knows who 'deadloss' is. :king:

I wonder if I can get the most 'worst score awards' in one season. That'd be...er...impressive.

Thanks, Dave. You should petition alan to turn this into an online calculation / output. :mischief:
Oh, all right then! Just as soon as I get the two SGOTMs up and running.

Congrats to A'AbarachAmadan! That may be most imporessive game I've seen so far. You finished so much faster than everyone else, and with a strategy I've never seen before. Quite impressive! :goodjob:

Also, congrats to Grey Cardinal. I was so close and yet so far away.

...and with a strategy I've never seen before...

I think I spend more time in the strategy phase than I do actually playing the game. :crazyeye: With the game being still new (and changing still with 1.61 significantly changing my combat tactics) I'm always looking for that change in common strategy that will have an impact. I still haven't started #6 yet as I'm trying to figure out the 'perfect' strategy for a conquest win on the unknown fractal.

I never cease to be amazed by hendrikszoon's games. Just glad I haven't had to go head-to-head with him on a fastest finish. I remember is C3C when the top games were within a few percentage points of each other. Now 3d place isn't even at 50%.

Yo Samson, it's a small club the two of us are in! And with a 78-plus hour investment, you deserved the challenger win more than I.
You beat me in time, but I beat you in score. Were you playing challenger? I cannot see where the class is listed.

Some of the time was with the computer left on when I went down the pub, but it was quite a slog. I did really enjoy the chalenge though.

Congrats to the winners, and thanks to the GOTM team.

Conrgats to the award winners and as always thanks to the GOTM staff for their time and hard work.

@A'AbarachAmadan
Congrats to you for your great game. It is really impressive: Four different Awards in only four competitions. It seems you are on the direct way to the Hexathlon Award.

Also congratulation to all other participants. I was really surprised that also on this high difficulty level more than 200 games were submitted.

Looking over hendrickszoon's game I decided to go back and follow his tech progression. I looks like this..
#1 Tech Progression.
1 Fishing
2 Polytheism
3 Priesthood
4 Writing
5 Alphabet
6 Code of Laws (Oracle) - Civil Service 1160BC
7 Literature
8 Mathematics (Pyramids Parthenon)
9 Philosohpy
10 Currency
11 Machinery (Great Lighthouse)
12 Paper
13 Education 200AD
14 Printing Press
15 Gunpowder
16 Engineering (Hagia Sophia)
17 Chemistry 860AD
18 Scientific Method
19 Liberalism
20 Communism
21 Nationalism
22 Biology. 1180AD
It's a great strategy and one that I will try to use, but for the life of me I can't get it to work. I miss way to many techs, mainly in the begining there's 12 early techs missing from the progression. Given it's possible to get 2-4 from huts I still can't get the early civilizations to trade me the remaining techs after I've already declared war on each Civ as hendrickszoon did in his. True some of the tech's could be earned from great people but he didn't build many wonders and if you take a look at his capital he would've had to put them all in there. But if you think that the tech progression is impressive you should check out the unit info screen he build 16 cats, 1 swordsman, 20 Horse Archers and 12 macemen and took a ton of the map before he somehow got military tradition and upgraded. I've been disecting this since the scores came out but ofcourse I need more time to work out the details. But I challenge all of you to take a look yourself and help me understand how he did so much damage with 4 galley's.

Wow, my game ranks 3rd in score and 2nd earliest overall...I guessed something similar from the spoiler threads, but actually couldn't believe it.

Unfortunately - and that's quite embarassing - I played adventurer class

There goes any justification for me to choose the adventurer bonus in any future game :D

Anyway, congratulations to all medal winners!
