I just finished the game which I could have played better. The map did not made it easy to get to other civs. I played a early conquest. So I was aiming for Monotheism with crusaders to crush the other civs. Reaching the civs with ships was my first plan, but I couldn't reach the spanish. When attacking them I lost a crusader and the city was destroyed. So I had to wait for extra help to defeat the Spanish. The other civ's were easy to defeat...they however changed their capitols a lot. Some barbarians caused some troubles because my own cities had little defence at the end.

I did not finish before 1AD and don't know if that's possible on this map.

I post a log after the 20th with the victory date.....

I went for conquest as well, finished last night. I mainly attacked with elephants, but some of the AI cities on river squares didn't help. I had a lot of help with money from huts and an early chariot, but I agree the map and location of the americans made a very early victory difficult.
