One for the "farmers", I see.
Happy Sim City, everybody!
It is OK to change the Cure For Cancer wonder to the Millennium Dome? Although that might give all your citizens -1 happiness and have a cost of 10 gold per turn.
At least I'll be able to get a GOTM score of more than 20 on this one.

King on earth map????

It's as if we were alone!
But it could be fun as it's been about a year since my last king game

Toni Blair???????

Next time put someone more neutral like the Queen f.i.

Anyway...

I think the maximum possible score is about 16,000:

Non-population score: 2360
Spaceship 400
Peace 100
Wonders 560
Barbs 25
Future Tech 1275 (it will go 255 -> 0, not 256)

Population score: About 14,000
I'm thinking 254 cities of average size 35.
Assuming Elvises are content, this means about 20 happy people per city, so 55 population points per city.

This is a map and level where such a score might be possible. Does anyone have the time to go for it?

Downloaded it.....will play tomorrow....TONY BLAIR???? You should've taken Willem III.

There is a little surprise at the beginning.

Restarting civs is ON.

YES!! I'm very happy now...I can actually do well on King Level, I think playing on the Earth map is fun, and since I rarely go up to Deity I hardly ever see 2 settlers: I can't wait! The only downside I see is the Roving Bands...I prefer Raging Hordes, Barbarians give some spice to the game...but I can sure live with that.
*worships TF and Matrix*
Now let me send off the spaceship from my (not very good) GOTM 6 so I can break the (don't make fun of me) 1000 point mark in GOTM 7.

I am quite frightened by this GOTM (I finally have the opportunity to play one). Seeing as the whale near London is in the same place as it is in the standard world map. That means that the Celts start out next to a hut, that means they get a nice something out of that hut. So rushing to chariots (or just plain horseman) isn't likely to be able to kill them (early that is). After spending a couple millenia fighting the celts (the first two thousand years go rather fast in King), by then the FRENCH/GERMANS/VIKINGS (one of those have to be in the game) will have likely colonized most of the mainland European coast that is near England. It's going to be one cramped game!!! Just thinking about starting this one makes me feel closed in.

Sail to south America. Not a human in sight. ...However, a new civ could be there...
Well, you could always try North America. Africa too, but then you should hope the Zulus aren't in.

This is going to be fun! I can see the frustrated posts before me already.

Sounds one hell of lot better than the last GOTM!!! Bloody vikings in that game beat the shat out of me five times before I got to kill them first... but by then It was halfway through and I was about third on the ladder and kept getting cities taken left right and centre!!!
This one look a lot better to biuld up forces at the start and gradually take over...

Morgasshk.

Aaah, Matrix. There are people who like it being King too (like Kira). So don't bother.

Here's the first frustrated response.
First, I was glad to see king, and a world map.

However,I got off to a really very bad start.

That Celt/English combination was a real killer for me. Apparently it is a fairly normal comfiguation (Celts with hut), which I assume experienced players have dealt with before. I only wish I had been able to have practiced it in a similar game.

Oh well, since I can't restart I'll see you in September.

Rjp

Sorry about that Celtic thing, guys. I didn't handpick the opponents.

If you got killed VERY early by the Celts, feel free to restart. I hope Matrix doesn't have a problem with that.

Comeon...if you die that´s it...or else where is the challenge! Over-aggression by humans is the only reason the celts will tan you (having played this map SO much as england b4 I KNOW to be kind and considerate to the celts until you can wipe them out in one turn).

Reading the interpretations people have made of Darwinist theory of the 19th Centuary: mutual aid vs germanic kill everyone else...I would suggest people look to the benefits of working WITH the celts...

Thanks Thundeerfall but I think I'll pass. KittenofChaos is right on a number of points.
If you are killed that should end it. Also, my point that many have probably played this set-up before.

I didn't think I rushed to kill off the Celts. I got caught by the Celts when I tried to kill them off in 2000 bc with a catapult and phalanx on the hill. Both died and when celts demanded mathematics and I refused they took london. I was too confident and was left with one other city I could not properly defend.

I will try again but not submitt.

Thanks
RJP

So how do you submit a game when you get wiped out in a few turns? I don't have a save and I don't even know what year the evil cursed @#%$$&# wiped out London!

I restarted because I couldn't leave it at that and now I'm doing better, much better and my psychological wounds are almost healed.

On the bright side: I can only do better in GOTM 8!

Being new to the GOTM, I wonder if this is a normal game as GOTM goes?
I have played app. AD 1500 and as far as I see it, the first civ to land in Africa or America (or both) wins.

Fun to play a KING game... haven't played one in years.

The average airline pilot having some 5000 hour's in an airplane - Most of us properly have more hour's plaing civII?

Thunderfall is right that people who get killed very early by the Celts may start over again. That counts for you too, RJP. However, if you choose not to do this, could you at least tell me what year you died? Hopefully you haven't started over again, because then you can load an autosave to see what year you died (there's your answer, donsig ).

Ice Bird, welcome to CivFanatics!!
