GOTM 9 results?

I think they forgot about us over here in Civ 2 land.....

They do usually post the results by now, but I'm sure Matrix and Thunderfall are planning on posting them very soon.

How do you all think you did?

I had to end my game early due to lack of 'real time', so my score is a bit lower than I wanted.

I probably in last. But this is my first GOTM and I usually play on Warlord.

I also didn't have time to finish it properly. I submitted the gane on the 2nd. I just founded a few cities with my settlers and then ended it. I didn't have time to wait for all my engs to finish working (one more turn). So, no spaceship for me (it would have taken about 25 turns I think).

Matrix: Sorry for not having time to do "the optional thing". Maybe next time. Also, I may have not told you how to end it. Just subvert it (this is just to be OK, as I'm sure you assumed it).

Normaly, we will have the result tomorow.
Matrix post the result around the 7th of each month.

hope I 'm right.

I finished the results yesterday making late hours. I was done at around 2:00 AM. ;) We only have to wait for Thunderfall to upload it.

Just take a look (how you did):

As usual, I performed below average.

Oh I like the new scoring system :)..I am surprised.

I don't see starlifter or Shadowdale. Thanks guys for not submitting ;)

If someone didn't die I would've been the last place finisher. :D

There's a good distribution of spaceships and conquests among the top results.
IMHO, the scoring system has a much better balance now.

Congratulations to everyone who feels they have played a good game.
I thought my game was quite good before I saw the results, but I obviously need some work in getting through the techs faster. Maybe I'm squashing the other civs too early. I need to work on keeping 1 or 2 alive and gifting techs a bit more.

I know I was very concerned with my score this game. I felt that I had shot myself in the foot because I stayed in monarchy until alomst 300AD, then in republic until about 500AD.

I tried to focus on building roads to get the delivery bonus and building engineers to build the roads and irrigate and transform the terrain. I never really focused on transforming terrain before and it seemed to work out pretty well for me. It allowed my established cities to build more engineers to do more work.

I have always used a spreadsheet to keep track of my freight deliveries, so I tried to keep up with it this game. I'll attach that here also just to share. I also ment to submit more saved games to Matrix, but I sent my results in at the last minutes (as usual) and forgot. Since I can only attach one file at a time I attach a zip with more saved games if anyone shows some interest.

I spent the last 5 turns of the game building all the wonders available just to shoot my score up. Glad I did or else I might have been about two spots lower.

Congratulations, Smash! I was also surprised that starlifter and Cactus Pete didn't submit. But they haven't asked me (yet) why they're not in, so I guess they really didn't.

But shadowdale won't play and GOTM anymore. First of all he's very busy in the moment. But he also said he has proven himself and that it's no fun anymore to get the gold medal every time. But I still think it's a sad loss. :(

Anyway, Thunderfall did not submit. He didn't have the time. Silly, eh: you're running a website for a game because you like the game, and because of that you don't have the time to actually play the game.

And Killer A's, look it at the bright side: you'll probably perform better next time. ;) I'm always below average and there is no progression in that.

Wow! My first ranking in GOTM at no. 18 which also happens to be my lucky number, so I'm happy.:D

I read that early finishes were the key, but everyone above me (barring Endiku) played longer. I might try playing the game up to the 1700's and compare my score...

Still 18,

I'm happy too because I played GOTM 8 and finished 55th /65players.

I finish 34/63 in the GOTM9.

It's a good progression for me.

Hope I would do the same progression with GOTM X. ;)

49th place.. hmm, not bad for my first gotm, I guess. Next time I'll build more cities, that always seems to do the trick :)

Wow- green medal and position 16, this has definatly been my most succesful GOTM. :D
I must say i didn't mind Cactus Pete's abscence too much, as he would have probably finished around 1000 years earlier than me.
For the new scoring system, I must say that it suceeded in rewarding fast finishes, pos 16 with 90 points ain't bad
:)
