Ok, here's the direction I think the GOTM should go. This might make things too complex for Thunderfall and Matirx, but why use our "MEMBER" vote to have maps turned in and rankings dealt as soon as we post them, That why we have a ongoing "LADDER" so to speak, Some people think that It's unfiar for others to dl the finished maps before the game is over and would promote cheating. But I would be willing to post my map first, and if you think you can beat it, go ahead. I say this cause I'd rather see a "ladder" of the GOTM from day to day, and not worry myself with who's going to cheat a look at the map before they've finished their game.

Well I like the idea, but I just think that a lot of people might use the "ladder" to check how well others are playing and try to beat the games already in the "ladder".
And if they can't in their first try then they might reload very early in the game to try again - Personally I have nothing against the idea but I think that it will make some people use several tries in an attempt to beat some of the scores!!!

To be honest, I'd like to be in charge . I think it is very important that the people who still play it, don't know what score they have to get to beat someone else. And ofcourse I'd like to have it to go a bit more automatic. And there might be something you could do for me :

A request: When you send me your savegames, please name it like this: nickname GOTM## date.sav. E.g.: Matrix GOTM01 1996AD.sav. I'll rename it to this anyway, so it would be helpful. And please give me your scores, finishing date, population and # of cities in your mail. Do this and I'd be very grateful! I really like to do all this, but not to keep repeating to search.

Well on large maps there's no possible way someone can play the whole map more than once or twice in one month and have a close chance of winning, It just takes to much time to build a civ that big, or beat oppenents that fast.

To be honest, I'd like to be in charge
This is nothing against your supereme power Matrix...
I'm just brianstoming my case on the way I'd like to see the GOTM be improved.

I'm open to suggestions, Johan. What I ment was that I want to make the rankings myself. I want to be in change of that, so that no one can send in nonsense.

But CornMaster is right, the original plan was to make it a casual contest and I intent to keep it that way.

See....when I play Civ I play Civ!! I'm talking 4-5 hours at a sitting. After my first session at the 1st GOTM I was in 1300AD before I quit the first time. So after 3 days I was done. I could replay the map probably 10 times in a month. But it would get boring though And not fair to anyone else.

I agree, posting maps before the end of the month would just be too tempting for many people. I don't mind too much waiting a day or two for the results. Of course, I won't be playing every month.

BTW Matrix, you're doing an awesome job with all of this. Keep up the great work; we all appreciate it
