I have implemented the rather radical solution of fixing the spurious "kings" unit insertion that was impacting part of the gotm25 game on PTW only.
These kings where basically just warrior replacements that just stood there in the game, but for some players this would be an insurmountable obstacle and in the big picture it was not a tested part of the game. The kings were in the PTW version because we have to manually input the the game features into PTW because of a bug that ends up shutting off culture whenever a rules set is imported into the game from a lower revision of software.
Testing indicates that an experienced player will use the kings as victims/"cannon fodder" but an inexperienced player may be set back more than was intended in the game.
I apologize for not catching this error because it was simple to detect and if I had tested the game in more detail in all five versions of the software it would have shown up more prominently.
If you are a less experienced player who already played the opening moves of your game and have the ability to make notes of your city positions that you chose so that you can reproduce these as closely as possible. Then I would encourage you to take this opportunity to replay the opening sequence to see if you can improve on your results.
The save game file download links that were already provided to you now contain the updated game file.
If you are late to the process and still want the challenge and fun of the "kings" games then you may download those as well by just changing the end of the address line for the save game file that you want to read "xxxxxxxxxxx_kings.zip"
Remember, this information only applies to PTW.
No one should be denied the opportunity to play with the enhanced Mongols units since this may be one our last three games using this style of play.
