Governors Warpool

This warpool is a new demogame construct, where I state/request some demands in this thread, for having the governors have a look at it.

I am not sure about the warlord elections, yet I can say right away that I need the following.

1. 8 catapults
2. 8 macemen
3. 4 Pikemen
4. 4 Longbowmen (to fill in guard roles as city garrisons)

These should be built within the next 10 turns or so.

No knights should be built prior to the research of Military Tradition is completed. As soon as Military Tradition is in place, we should add enough Cavalry to make our total Cavalry force of 10 (also including upgradeable knights).

Nice idea, Provolution but may I suggest even after these units have been produced we desginate at least Coppertown and Munich to stand-by for emergency resupply of units?

Thanks for the gold info, with 1200 gold, the bulk would go to the Cavalry (900 or so) and the remainder could go to upgrading spearmen to pikemen (handling their "cavalry" counters).

Good call Hyro, we may also need to keep Coppertown open for West Point, which would be priority for that city. Munich would remain the resupply center, but we only produce either catapults or macemen in Munich. Coppertown would produce catapults/macemen before Military Tradition is researched.

I think it is futile to produce knights right now.

I would advise against using gold to upgrade spearmen to pikemen, as we can build them relatively quickly anyway. And we don't need that many pikemen anyway, 1 or 2 a stack would suffice.

Well then we only upgrade the best promoted units, which is why I would like the RP-Rifling path to make for example our triple or so city raider macemen a super-murderous rifleman. I think 4 pikemen production would suffice right now, as we are to have 3 minor stacks, with 1-2 in each.

Sounds like a plan :D

Excellent! Just two questions:

The 8 cats, 8 mace, 4 pike and 4 longbow are obviously over the already
on field?

Is there some priority among them? First, cats, maces, pikes, longbow,
intermixed?

Please, say as fast as you can, then Coppertown and Munich need to talk
about and also know about research (West Point).

Best regards,

Build longbow in the rear (south), as we can move them on to fill in cities ahead.

Pikes where the battle happens, up north.

Macemen from all-over, where we got spare capacity. The roads will move these fast enough, but ideally as far north as we can get.

Catapults are more or less the same as the macemen, but ideally close to the front.

West Point will no be an issue for a while, as we may head for RP-Rifling route, but we certainly need to make an effort, and never build units without barracks. The more units we can build before the war, the better it is.

After some quick calculus (if not a mistake):
Without the GA, Coppertown and Munich left alone would take 16 turns to
build all the demanded units;
With GA 11/12 turns (Coppertown takes great profit from GA,not so Munich).
So, not far, but still some kind of delay or help needed.
Best regards,

What units do we have now, I cannot access basic Civ4, as I am in "Binaria"?

2 archers,4 longbow,4 chariot,5 keshiks, 8 knight, 3 warriors,7 axe,17 maces,
2 spear,3 pike,14 cats.

Obvious these include the garrisons.

Best regards,

Well, then, we can revise down what we need for the battlegroups, this is quite a good start.

Revised build queue (less units needed, we do not need more catapults now)

1. 3 Pikemen
2. 7 Macemen
3. 11 Longbowmen (to fill in guard roles as new city garrisons)

The Battlegroups would look like this:

1. Dortmund (8 Knights)
2. Antium (12 Macemen, 5 catapults, 2 pikemen, 2 chariots)
3. Hamburg (12 Macemen, 5 catapults, 2 pikemen, 2 chariots)
4. Arpinium (7 Axes, 4 catapults, 2 pikemen 5 keshiks)

All new macemen must be city raiders.

Next Roman War will be with cannons, riflemen and so on, and closer than we think. Longbowmen can be produced far south.

Sounds good Provolution, however, i would have some more cats in the two main battlegroup, unless you plan to resupply them with cats as they go along (engineering is key to that plan)

The catapults are sufficient, as this is a limited war designated to halve Rome.

If this war goes very well, we add a couple of catapults from Munich later.

This is a plan in the works, but it is getting there.

No, Dortmund is a special case, it is distant, and we need the mobility, surviving units from the Dortmund group will either serve as garrison, or come in from north to take on Hamburg as reinforcements. The Dortmund is all about high mobility, as the other three are about sieges.

The knights are still quite superior to the few forces the Germans keep in Dortmund. I am still contemplating on adding the keshiks to the knights, and make it all a massive cavalry army thundering around the icy lake.

The beauty of Dortmund, is the absence of natural defenses and walls, and the weakness to knights (local longbows and horse archers).

I heard the romans say the governors don't have the "kahones" to build a army. I'm not trying to start anything but its what they are saying up there.
