Graphics Modification Requests Thread

I've often wished for more elevation and diversity on my maps. It would be great if they could include pallisades like the California coast, cliffs like Dover,
a rift valley, or a rift lake like Loch Ness, a Grand Canyon, a vast crater or a common plateau.

I don't actually know what that would require...so I'm asking.

Would it be as "simple" as reskining some hills ( facing each direction )so that they were half slope and half plateau, to outline the plateau and fill it in with grassland squares? Or face them the other way( slope inward ) to make a canyon or crater?

Perhaps cliffs/elevation would be a between tile feature instead, sort of like rivers, and more complex, or impossible.

What skills would it take?

I know this might be a bit of a big project but I wondering whether somebody could create an introductory movie that focuses on the combat aspects of the game and shows off all the units; ie. it starts in ancient times with something like that charge scene out of Braveheart, goes into the Crusades with Knights, then to American revolution, WWI, WII, Vietnam, and then then into the Future. I want it to have Civilization IV Beyond The Sword come up at the end in an atomic blast if anyone wants to tackle this just tell me.

I wish I could get the vanilla movie for BtS instead of the default BtS movie (which sucks)... or is there an easy way to do this already?

you can switch it in .xml - art_def_movies or something like this

I'd like to request a graphic of an electrical plug to be used in place of the current lightning bolt graphic indicating a city has Power...

Any takers?

Cheers,

that requires a gamefont.tga change doesn't it. I hate that file.

I have looked, but I could not find it... I'd love to see a Vienna Opera House come to life as a UB for the Austrian civ (replaces theater)... and NO, that doesn't mean "use the Sydney Opera House" either.

I'm looking for something very Austrian... not Australian.

If that means you could quickly/easily convert one of those opera houses into a Civ4 building, I'll take it... even if it's not officially "Austrian", it's a lot closer then the Sydney Opera House!

If someone could get me an old-school European Opera House, I'll take it! Vienna is a plus, but not necessary.

I have multiple requests, so bear with me here...

Request 1, 2, & 3: New World Fauna Resources
I'd like to see bonuses representing fauna that was hunted and/or domesticated in the New World and generally held great significance to the people there (and in many cases retains at least some of that significance today). I'd specifically like to see Bison, Turkey, and Llama resources. I posted a thread in the main creation forum with details and links to potentially helpful existing graphics.

Request 4: Monk's Mound
"Monk's Mound is the largest Pre-Columbian earthwork in North America north of Mesoamerica. Located at the famous Cahokia site near Collinsville, Illinois, it is over 100 feet (30.5m) high, 1037 feet (316 m) long, and 790 feet (241 m) wide. This makes Monk's Mound larger at its base (about 16 acres) than the Great Pyramid of Giza, but unlike Egyptian pyramids which were built of stone, it was constructed almost entirely of basket-transported soil." -- from the Monk's Mound wikipedia entry

This could work as either a wonder for the early game or as a flavor palace for the Native American civ -- albeit a rather large one, if you kept it to scale.

And some pictures... Monk's Mound is the largest one...

And closer view, w/ just a few surrounding huts...

Here it's the one in the background, not the foreground...

I hope this opera ties youover I gad a pain in the *** time trying to get the texture to work so this isn't what I wanted to be. hopefully it'll suffice until i figure that out.

Thanks Ekmek... it'll officially be the last thing I sneak into my mod!

Ekmek... ummm... I just checked it out... maybe I'm missing something... the Opera file contains only a NIF and TGA file... where's the DDS texture, or does it not have one yet?

If it was made in blender it won't contain .dds since there's no .dds plugin for blender

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask but If anyone is willing to help I would like someone to make me a flag to replace the Americans in the game. I have and can provide pictures of what I would like on the flag. I want the color to stay the same just something other than the white star in mind. I would do it myself but I'm not very technically minded. Please let me know if anyone can help. My appreciation in advance.

Ummm... I would say it's safe to say I don't think that "US" flag has been done before! ;)

I'm in the market for some lookout tower graphics that can defend itself. From a wooden tower(like in CivIII) that shoots. I'm aiming for the entire line, i.e. shoots arrows, then bullets, eventually metal or concrete tower that shoots lasers/plasma. it also be much appreciated if someone could add a turret to the FFH Giant Spider, i already have the skin, just need something that it can shoot since i turned it into an all-terrain mech for my addon to RoM2.
