Trebuchet is a bombard unit between catapult and cannon. It's appearance is somewhat like a catapult but it uses counterweights and torsion. (pic attached)

Hardwoods are a strategic resource that will be required for Trebuchet and wooden sail craft after galley. A stack of masts would be an excellent icon for this.

Can anybody help here?

Thanks! :D

If no one else wants to make a Trebuchet for you then I could have a go, but it may be a couple of weeks before I can even get started as I'm currently up to my neck with several Macedonian units for Exsanguination's Alexander the Great mod. I hope that this is better than nothing.

("Firaxian Foes Feed Fuel to the Fire on Fan Forum".....you are a very, very naughty person!)

That would be great. Thanks!

Ummm...Dark Sheer only got two hands and 24 hours a day. ;)

My suggestion for the Trebuchet is to take it from AoK. Since Age Of Kings units are expotable to CivIII format, you couldn't ask for a nicer trebuchet animation. Unfortunatly I don't know how to export AoK units but I would ask someone here or the creator of the Slinger unit on the Apolyton Files Forum. good luck.

Dark Sheer or Kryten - Any idea how to do this? As long as absolutely no artistic talent is required, I could probably manage it.

check out this thread. I was able to grab an avi from an AoK fansite. I don't have the game myself so I can't grab any of the animations straight from there. I do have AoE and I have posted some collections of bitmaps for others to compile into units.

I can post any other AoE units people would like to see.

this is the link for the trebuchet.

Good work Kal-el!,

Is it possible to get some flics of the dismantled/wagon loaded and ready for transport version of the trebuchet?

The AoE frames are HUGE (which is why they are of such high quality and look so good; 225 by 225 pixels as opposed to civ3's 75 by 75), but they can be reduced. I am no Paintshop Pro expert, but here is an example of the original flic with a Mounted Warrior for comparison and a trebuchet reduced to civ3 scale (the unnecessary AoE terrain has not yet been removed).

Kryten,

If someone can upload the actual bmps from the game the quality should be better. i was able to grab the units from AoE and have posted a bunch of bmps over in the unit forum. I don't have time to put them together but if you or others who are flicster proficient can work with the images I provide thats great. I figure if we all work together we should be able to churn out new units by the bucketfull.

I can put up more AoE units if people would like to have them and others are willing to make flics out of them.

....hmmm....I must admit that I'm not completely comfortable with the copyright ramifications of using AoE/AoK units in civ3 (and I don't mean to disrespect anyones opinion, but I don't think that a civ fanatics site is a good place to receive legal advice). I may be worrying unnecessarily, but personally I would feel far more happier making the units myself, even if it takes longer and they won't look as good. This is not really an issue when it comes to making a trebuchet unit, because the amount of work involved in resizing and editing the AoE unit is not much different from creating a new unit from scratch (at least this is true for someone like myself who is still a beginner with Paintshop Pro).
