Grave question to the Americans

I think you're a bit misguided...

A lot of Americans, I'm sure, would like to travel over to Europe and Asia, but there's the American standard of living...so the only reasonable places would be London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Seoul, and maybe Taipei.

Whether you're being sarcastic or not, I have encountered quite a few americans who want just this: They want to go to Europe, and only eat Big Mac burgers or T-bone steaks with fries and ketchup; only talk to other Americans; stay in 4 or 5* accomodation and only shop at the international chain stores. Its not just the Americans though.

For me, one of the real attractions in going to other countries is in seeing how the locals live - eating their food, seeing what's for sale in their shops and generally getting the hell out of the tourist traps.

Otherwise, gjts00 is completely right. Why leave home?

Well I would'nt reccomend that anybody from the Us sample local fare in India without a paramedic and a nurse on standby. I have personally seen the effects of marginally spicy food on Americans /Europeans who come to India thinking it is Britain;)

As to where Sweeden (sic) and India are:

Sweeden (sic): That cold place wedged inbetween Norway and Finnland (sic).

OK- I realize you're not that serious. But what do you know about the climate here? The average temperature for August was 19 deg. Celsius (night and day). I know about the continental climate of Ohio and other states - do you know about the gulfstream? And I do think that America might pay more attention to the rest of the world. Consider this quote from G W Bush: "Our style of living is not negotiable". Very careless, since USA produces 20% of the world's carbon dioxide waste!

In all fairness though, Giving the American state name should be sufficient , since most states are as big as any country.

I would know for the most part where a person is from if they said Ornskoldsvik (floppa's birthplace) or whatever. I mean, obviously you aren't Jamaican. I think most would also know ******, CA or any other state for what it is or at the very least, American/United States.

As for travel, I would like to see Russia a lot, but people tell me I'm crazy and there's nothing to see. Course, they never been there themselves... Starlifter could tell me I bet. Staaaaaarlifter, where aaaaaare yooooou Staaarlifteeeeer....
