anyone have any ideas about what GB abilities will be? with Ada Lovelace as leader and some of their comments, it seems like they will be a scientific civ. i think it could be really cool if they did something for their ability related to radar and bletchley park. it would be a unique take on the civilization and highlight british scientific achievements in a way that could benefit warmongers too. some kind of radar mechanic where they could have greater vision of fog of war would be really interesting for example. or possibly a code breaking mechanic where you can "hack" enemy civilizations and gain advanced knowledge of plans, army size, policies, production, etc. what would you like to see in Great Britain?

This is just a me thing but so many sports originated from Great Britain or were at least popularized around the world by the empire that I’d love to see some of that represented in the design in a small way.

that would be super fun! they could boost happiness and use stadiums as a unique quarter.

Since leaders are decoupled from civs, Ada doesn't force Britain to be scientific. Based on the info we have, Britain is going to be focused on industry somehow.
I'm expecting Economic/Scientific. I feel like Great Britain will be getting a unique science/engineer Great People that we saw in the short Great Person video. Unless those were the Jacobins?

My personal guess would be Economic/Expansionist, with Big Ben added as their special wonder (though Trafalgar Square would be pretty cool as an alternative). Scientific would also make sense subbging in for either of those, though. Probably a Redcoat UU, and maybe like an "RAF Ace" unique squadron commander?

They could have a UA (or even just stuff in the unique civics) dealing with having cities on multiple continents (since currently the only meaningful aspect to continents, I believe, is where you have to research for the Modern Age artifacts.)

We've seen the Battersea Power Station in screenshots, so keep that in mind.

From what we’ve seen:

Britain has a unique quarter that looks a lot like the Bank of England. So I’d expect an economic bonus.

The associated wonder is Battersea Power Station, so some industrial bonuses seem likely.

We haven’t seen any unique units. I’m hoping for a naval unit rather than redcoats again. Or the Spitfire would be long overdue. The civilian could be a Great Engineer? Richard Trevithick, George Stephenson, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Charles Babbage, John Logie Baird, Beatrice Shilling…

And then there are the unique civics which I expect to encompass industry, economics and quite probably museums.

Ada Lovelace, not necessarily being tied to Britain, will certainly have a scientific bonus.

Having stared at it until my eyes turned an unhealthy red, I think I've figured out the British quarter and buildings.

The quarter itself is a more-or-less 1:1 recreation of the real-life Bank Junction—they even modelled the statue of the Duke of Wellington there! Other quarters usually do similar: they make a special-looking urban space that stands out but, notably, also fully includes the unique buildings in a particular way. It's like how the Greek UQ places the Parthenon up on a hill, with the Odeon down below. So, we have to figure which buildings stand out here in this completed quarter. Here's what I think:

The quarter itself is the Bank Junction. It's fairly normal for unique quarters to recreate a particular physical space: Greece's aforementioned Acropolis is an imaginary replica of the Athenian Acropolis, and Mexico's Zócalo is a recreation of, well... the Zócalo city square of Mexico City.

The first building is the Royal Exchange, the one with the glass inset in the roof and the tower behind. It's the exact same building and it stands out, so I don't see why it wouldn't be this one.

The second building is definitely not the Bank of England—that's nowhere to be seen in the quarter, not even a little representative slice of it. Instead, check out the dark brick and smoking chimney of the structure to the right of the Royal Exchange: I'm certain that's the key second piece here. I can't tell what it is exactly, but it looks like some kind of factory or maybe even an early power generation station (to match the Battersea wonder). Although there's already a Factory building in the game, it's not without precedent for unique buildings to kind of "double up" an existing standard one thematically or aesthetically: consider America's Railyard, which you could be forgiven for mixing up with the typical Rail Station.

Anyway, that's my reasonable speculation. My wild guessing is that they'll have some science-focused gameplay (look at how many rocket launch pads there are in the teaser screenshot!) and perhaps an aircraft unique unit. I'm also leaning on the side of them having a special "Great Innovator" sort of blanket Great Person, so we might see Isambard Kingdom Brunel as well as Charles Babbage—the latter a super neat fit with Ada Lovelace, I'd think.

this is an amazing analysis thank you !

An Underground Station has been thrown around, considering the Bank Station is one of the busiest ones. And it would make sense if you can't see it because it's underground. :)
I agree on the Royal Exchange building and Bank Junction name for the quarter.

Don't say that this can be the first civ with TWO UCs and no UUs ?
since Redcoats aren't really graphically logical since they replaced Infantry lineage IRL. yet Redcoat uniforms only lasted until 1902 (Second Third of Modern Age).
and even interesting is that Generic European Line Infantry wears Napoleonic era Redcoat uniforms regardless of nations (except the US of A, which are basically Minutemen and Colonial Militias wearing outdated uniforms.)

Underground Station deserves a place as British UB huh? Isn't there a better designs like Royal Dockyard (Recurring from Civ6) being naval UQ made up of two Brits unique naval buildings?

Well from what we knew about the picture above it had nothing to do with the navy at all. It turned out to be a Manufactory (the one with the smokestacks) that provided production along with a Royal Exchange gold building.
Why does the British city list not include cities from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? Cities such as Glasgow or Belfast were quite important during the British Empire
I'm not surprised that they don't include cities from Ireland, considering the civ is called Great Britain and Ireland is a whole separate island.
The lack of Scotland and Wales is surprising though. Maybe they are considering all of them as potential civs in the Exploration Age that could progress into Great Britain?

Maybe they actually meant to release England, but some bloke in 2k insisted on GB?

However, given the fact that southern German cities like Stuttgart are part of the Prussians in Civ7, I am not surprised. Shoddy work all around

It's German-unification-Prussia. I don't think anyone has their heart on their sleeve for Baden-Wurttemberg becoming a playable civ.

Seems Firaxis's researchers only have a surface-level knowledge of history like most people do when it comes to the British Isles and just think that Britain = England, which is insulting to everybody on the islands. Glasgow was known as the second city of the empire for a reason.

They're probably also planning a Scotland civilisation for the game. Let's just hope they put Scotland in the Exploration Age, lest we have a truly ludicrous situation where Great Britain and Scotland exist simultaneously. It's just slap-dash all around.
