I had, at first, considered posting an elimination thread for every Great Person in the game, but since such a thread would almost certainly never end, I've decided instead to concentrate on one of the more powerful classes of Great People; Great Engineers, Scientists, Generals, and Admirals would all merit threads of their own, as well. The same rules employed in the other elimination threads are applied here; subtract three points from one you dislike, add one point to one you like, and provide some rationale for your decisions.
1) You can vote every 24 hours
2) Give a reason each time you vote for why you chose as you did.
3) Don't comment in the thread unless your post involves this voting unless someone has made a typo in voting scores or removed someone from the list prior to them running out of points.
1. Adam Smith
2. John D Rockefeller
3. Giovanni de' Medici
4. Estée Lauder
5. John Spilsbury
6. Marcus Licinius Crassus
7. Marco Polo
8. Helena Rubinstein
9. Raja Todar Mal
10. Levi Strauss
11. John Jacob Astor
12. Zhang Qian
13. Jakob Fugger
14. Irene of Athens
15. Melitta Bentz
16. Colaeus
17. Sarah Breedlove
18. Jamsetji Tata
19. Masaru Ibuka
20. Piero de' Bardi
21. Mary Katherine Goddard
Colaeus — 20
Marcus Licinius Crassus — 20
Zhang Qian — 20
Piero de' Bardi — 20
Irene of Athens — 20
Marco Polo — 20
Jakob Fugger — 20
Giovanni de' Medici — 20
Raja Todar Mal — 20
John Jacob Astor — 20
Adam Smith — 20 + 1 = 21. The prohibitive favorite, for obvious reasons.
John Spilsbury — 20
Sarah Breedlove — 20
Mary Katherine Goddard — 20 – 3 = 17. The only Great Merchant without a tangible economic effect, and easily one of the least helpful Great People in the game. She needs another ability; at the moment, a higher level of diplomatic access doesn't offer any sort of advantage.
John D. Rockefeller — 20
Melitta Bentz — 20
Helena Rubinstein — 20
Levi Strauss — 20
Masaru Ibuka — 20
Estée Lauder — 20
Jamsetji Tata — 20
