Consequently I'm now also working on female versions of the different great people. So far I've completed the two scientists and have some ideas for the layout of the spies and engineers, but thoughts for these and especially for the other units are very welcome (best with pictures). For now I haven't bothered with any xml scripting and buttons for these units (similar to my other female unit additions), but will work on this as soon as I've completed the whole set. Thus I don't need proposals for the names yet, but of course when the times comes these will be welcome, too.
Here are pictures of the female scientists:

More technical information are given in the download section: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=14004

I don't know when I'll finish the next models, because I might also want to work on some more amazon units, but as soon as they are ready I'll post them.

Great stuff, SaibotLieh. You gave us a decent industrial-era scientist. :woohoo:

First, thanks for the praises, everybody.

Second, I've finished the female versions of the great spies now. :)

Spoiler :

Both models gave me some headaches in their own way, but I think I managed somehow. I also included buttons for the units this time.

The right model is nice :).
The left model looks more like it/she had a beard (but the rest is fine :)).

A beard? Never thought of it that way, hopefully the button makes it clear that it should be a mask. Otherwise, think of it as a failed disguise.

Beautiful units, SaibotLieh. :goodjob:
I have to say my first impression about the ancient great spy is that of a beard too. Perhaps retexture it to a normal face?

A ninja without a mask? :dubious: Thought this combination was hardcoded in reality somewhere. ;)
None the less I've edit my model's skin to answer your maskless-wishes. If added a new .dds file to the ancient spy folder that can be used as a replacement to make the mask invisible.

Spoiler :

Btw, while researching for for my remodeling I found out that the female ninja is not purely based on clichéd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunoichi). Getting wiser with Civ 4 unit modeling.

Hey, not every reclusive person is a ninja, you know. ;)
Thanks for the retexture. :D

New texture looks alot better. What's the polycount and texture sizes of these units?

The polycount is 966 for the ancient and 709 for the modern spy. The ancient spy uses two textures each 128*128 pixels, the modern one uses two 128*128 (one of them is a gloss file) and one 64*64 (for the dynamite, could be dropped if not necessary).

I think if you gave her a head-band and the mask over the mouth and nose, but textured it the same color as her clothing it wouldn't look like a beard anymore.

Something like this?

Spoiler :

The color of the head-band an mask are still practically undistinguishable from the hair color, but making them brighter would make them rather counterproductive for the ninja I guess.

It wouldn't really be counter productive, I mean she already has some skin showing. Plus it isn't like she is literally sneaking around in the game anyway.

I tried to make the mask brighter, but that didn't look good for me. Next I tried to make the mask larger, how about this:

Totally still looks like a beard. It just looks alot better without the mask, so I'd say drop the mask.

Guess you are right, I'll leave the unit as it is now. Everybody can decide for themself about the mask.
