We'll get another Great Person next turn (It feels like yesterday that we got a Great Engineer for the Statue of Liberty). He'll be born in Paris.

0% Great Prophet, 21% Great Scientist, 64% Great Merchant, 13% Great Engineer

(Note: 0% Great Prophet isn't actually 0%, just a very slim chance).

Now, what shall we do with him?
My proposals:
Great Prophet: Settle him as a superspecialist in Equus Aurum (our probable future Wall Street city), gives 2 hammers, 5 gold and 3 beakers in that city.
Great Scientist: Build an academy in Xanadu (does it have one already?) or Berlin.
Great Merchant: Settle him as a superspecialist in Equues Aurum, gives 1 food (very valuable in that city!), 8 gold and 3 beakers there.
Great Engineer: Settle in Coppertown for x hammers and x beakers (I don't know the actual numbers a Great Engineer gives, maybe I should play this game more often :mischief:)

I agree with the main outline, but would save the Engineer for rushing another wonder and scientist for scientific method.

Xanadu already got an academy, so I would use the scientist for "Scientific Method", if that is the offered tech (we need to see the tech first).
Oil is a critical piece of resource and intel to cover.

Scientific Method obsoletes monastries. As we will soon have 3 shrines (Buddhist, Taoist and Confucianist), we will want to spread these religions. So I propose not to get Scientific Method untl we have monastries in place to spread these religions.

BTW. Which wonder would you like to use the Engineer on?

What wonders are available?

I cannot open the save.

I don't think there are any world wonders currently available, but I'm not sure about it. Pentagon (Assembly Line) is relatively close, we could get the tech in 1-2 TCs if we want. The next wonders are the Eifel Tower and the happiness resource wonders, but they're rather meh in my opinion, and we could probably slow-build them if needed. Of course, there's the Space Elevator, but it's quite a long way off.

Another option is to rush a national wonder, but that seems rather wasteful.

Hamburg is a Roman occupied holy city for the Taoist Religion (extinct Germany), and here we can put up the Dai Miao (Taoist main wonder). This would help stabilize the Roman War, get up that great wonder, and add instant culture to a hot war area.

I believe the Dai Miao has already been built there.

If that is the case, I would go for Scientific Method and Communism, and then build the Kremlin as a priority (with engineer).

However, that does not change this sessions beeline.

Kremlin makes rushing cheaper. However, we aren't running any civics that allow rushing, and AFAIK aren't planning on running any. So we won't be able to use the effect :p

We are not running any of these civics, presently, but it would culminate perfectly if we made the civics change right after Antium or Ravenna.

We do not need vassalage for the last 2-3 cities anyways.

The two civics that allow rushing are slavery and Universal Suffrage.
Slavery is out because of moral reasons or something.
Universal Suffrage is worse than Representation because we have the Statue of Liberty and Mercantilism.

all rite, I read you.

We could also save the engineer for a rainy day (when we get to Internet or so), or simply save him for Golden Age.

I am not to interested in engineer city specialists. If so, it should be in a naval location, so we can get some ships faster.

If an engineer appears I'd use him to rush Versailles, we can research divine right very quickly and we might need a rush to get Versailles because other civs may already be building it. Versailles would be a very important wonder for us to have because we have a vast empire which could benefit greatly from another reduction in our maintainance costs. Other than that I agree with all of the plans from the initial post.

Versailles has already been built by the Aztecs (deja-vu moment)

Do we need just 2 great people for a golden age?

I do like using great people that way. Otherwise, I'm in favor of our engineer being settled. I'm not convinced we'll get the most out of him if he helps to build a wonder, although that could be a viable option for a really useful wonder like Internet (if rival civs can keep up with our tech pace) or three gorges dam (if we have a good number of cities where we'll want a factory)

Internet is a Project, not a wonder, and can't be rushed :(

The problem with having a Golden Age now is that it will increase the cost of a future golden age. I'd like to have a golden age during the spaceship building.

I usually try to get a factory built in every city which will build spaceship parts, in which case getting the three gorges dam lets me power the factories without adding the extra unhealthy effects of coal plants.

The internet isn't really helpful unless the other civs are close in tech and the things they're researching are things you need but don't want to research. If you need the tech, having to count on 2 opponents researching it or trading it isn't very safe. The other advantage is to keep a 3rd civ from getting it and using it to catch up to us and the 2nd place.

How about rushing the space elevator?

Either three gorges or the elevator seem worth banking an engineer.

Till we want to build three gorges or space elevator, we have a next engineer, i hope. We get research for steam or steel with him.
