I know that the Great Wall "Barbarians won't enter your cultural boundary" effect only works on the continent that you built it.

But does the same go for the "increased GG production rate in your cultural boundary"? Are will battles in my cultural boundary on other continents also get the GG production bonus?

As I understand, no. The Great Wall works only on the continent it is built.

Also, the Great Wall only protects the culture it surrounds (i think) so if the culture of your Civ exceeds that area, then those improvements, units, and cities are liable to barb attacks.

(correct me if I'm wrong, plz)

The Great Wall's benefits reach your civilizations cultural borders of the continent, not just the physicla border of the wonder on the screen (that is just game graphics).

The Great Wall protects your culture stands on that continent from Barbs, and kicks in the 2x GG points within the same area. Doesn't matter if it is enclosed by the physical wall or not.

EDIT: Sneaky Scientist....

the barbs are color-blind for culture borders on water. meaning that even with the great wall, they're allowed come by and pillage your fishing nets even if the coastal tile is one tile away from the city you built the wall in.

so the protection from the barbs is for land only, and only on the continent where it's built, but as noted above it's your culture borders not the wall.

however, the 2x GG points count for any tiles in your cultural borders anywhere in the world. and that part even counts in the water that you own. i just tested it again, even tho i was sure. test was using 3.13 BtS.

THAT is good to know :goodjob:

You must mean 2x GS points, right?

No, he without a doubt means GG points, because The Great Wall gives more of them inside your cultural borders. In addition to that The Great Wall provides 2 culture points per turn, 2 Great People points, higher possiblity of Great Spy to born and provides secure borders on the continent against barbarians. Those 2 Great People points that increase the Great Spy possiblity are not modified by The Great Wall itself, though you can modify them with The Parthenon, National Epic, Pacifism civic, Forum (UB) and a Golden Age.

Thanks. I'm on Warlords (not BtS), but I don't think this is something I've heard them change. So I'll assume it's the same for me -- at least until I test it myself.

I was primarily asking because in a recent game my land invasion of Ghengis' continent turned out to be my 5-6 Infantry warding off an assault of about 50+ Swordsmen/Axemen/Catapults/etc/etc. I wasn't sure if my GW back home was helping the GG's pop from that.
