This thread is just a little partial mixer of the two other polls. It'll be interesting to see how the largely American voters vote on this poll. Instead of just the realistic candidates, I decided to fill all twenty options. There is a maximum of twenty. The realistic candidates are all there; some other cities are there too. Please don't whine about "why didn't you include my city", "why is X there when Y isn't" :p

Once again, consider a mixture of historical and present prestige. However, I'll leave it to you to decide exactly what "greatness" amounts to...;)

Haven't been to them all but of those I have seen the choice is easy, The Eternal City.

I just love it there.

:eek:No Miami? No Vegas???

Sorry I couldn't resist, although Vegas should definatly be up there! Of the choices I'd go with NY though.

I'm rather fond of San Francisco, myself. While I haven't been outside the US, I have seen a fair bit inside it, and SF is one of the better places, IMO.

Yeah, you're joking...but just wait. :(

ANyway, the poll's multiple choice and you can vote "other"

well, I voted three cites-

Rome- one of the most important cities in the world hstrorically, and that history speakes for itself as to why it is picked (and, I just happen to be ROman from my dads line ;))

New York-a booming metropolis, and a huge economic beacon to the world, I think this is perhaps the single most important modern day city on the planet (I also have familly ties to this city, my dad is from the Bronx, and I was born, not in the city, but in NY state :))

London- a great history combined with modernday importance :) (no great connection here, there is soem to the nation, but none to the city itself IIRC)

Baghdad! Are you kidding?
Why didn't you put Kabul on it? It's my favorite traveling destination!

Now seriously, I've only been to a few of the cities listed above. I would never pick any Indian cities, or Baghdad. The food in Kuala Lumpur is terrible, and Egypt is too dry. Wouldn't pick Jerusalem either, and of course not Moscow, too cold, so is St. Petersburg. Heh, Mexico City? Delete.
I've never been to Shanghai, but I'd choose to live there. Beijing is tooooooo cold, right now!
Brisbane, London. San Francisco.

Baghdad was not only one of the greatest medieval cities, it also represents the civic traditions going back to ancient times. The Seleucids founded Seleucia as a new capital to replace Babylon; the Parthians founded Ctesiphon as a new capital to replace Seleucia; the Arabs founded Baghdad to replace Ctesiphon. All these places close to each other. New cities were created to bond these urban centres to the new dynasty, but they represent the same civic traditions.

Hence, Baghdad :goodjob:

Mexico City?? HA!

Cancun? Now we'rea talking.;)

Sydney, baby!

May not be the most cultured place in the world, but the setting is fabulous, weather is great and the cost of living (compared to my current location) is cheap.
And they've good pizza, as well as every other food.

Anyone who's actually been to California will understand why this poll is absurd to have LA and not SF in the options. No one thinks LA is anything more than a polluted dump populated entirely by star-f'ers and gang members, neither of whom vote on CFC OT polls anyway.

This may sound arrogant, but I assure you I am not one of those everything-revolves-around-the-U.S kind of people.

However, most of the world truly revolves around a multitude of events taking place in New York City.

some Km away from Mexico city there a place called Cuernavaca, its also called "the everlasting spring city" thats a nice place to be in every seasson of the year :)

Rome!

... or perhaps Istanbul, New York, London, Beijing or Jerusalem... Depending on timeperiods..
