Willem and I thought about opening a thread were everyone could post videos of of great goals.
So here you go!

Somebody please find some video of Marco van Basten's bicycle kick against Den Bosch. That was the greatest goal ever. Period.

It's pretty awesome, isn't it ? With almost anyone else, you would say that it was a good idea, and they just got really really lucky to place it in the top right corner. With van Basten, he maybe was good enough to aim an overhead kick that precisely...

I still like the early Beckham goal against Wimbledon (a copy at http://myhome.naver.com/batiworld/beckham2.mpeg).

Not the power of the Seedorf one, or the brilliant improvisation of the van der Vaart, but something else - a clear calculation of the options available to him, a realisation of where the goalkeeper is, and a pinpoint shot from the halfway line.

Many great goals come from the player having nothing else he could do but try it, and it just happened to pay off so it looks good. This is different.

And doesn't he look young....

Can anyone find a video clip of Ryan Giggs' 1999 extra-time winner against Arsenal in the FA Cup semin-final ? Or of Archie Gemmill's goal for a 3-1 Scotland lead in 1978 against teh Netherlands ? Both of those stick in the memory as being great goals against good opponents when it really mattered. (or not, as Johnny Rep then scored to make it 3-2 :( )
