so, what is it?
Astronomy, it's well documented.
If you're talking about beaker price, then it's Astronomy.
I got Education when I searched the new world on a terra map. But, once I got around 6 techs from villages in one game, one of them being CoL.
Yeah I remember getting astronomy a few times from huts on unexplored islands.
A bit off-topic, but I recall one recent monarch game as shaka where my initial scout popped 2 additional scouts from his first 2 goody huts, then I sent them off to pop most of the goody huts on the big fractal continent and got lots of goodies including the crucial early techs... by 2000 BC I had a huge tech lead so by 1000 BC thanks to good land, ikhandas, and early courthouses I settled lots of cities which I used to pump out units, then won a domination victory. I usually hate shaka the AI but I loved playing as him in that game, and I experienced first-hand just how huts can unbalance a game
Since Astro is the well-documented tech furthest to the right on the tech tree you can pop out of a hut, can you pop any tech left of Astro out of a hut? I thought it was impossible to pop religion techs and great people techs from huts, but I don't know about the rest.
it wouldn't be hard to test. Play a huge map with 1 AI spawn every tile with village huts and some scouts.
You cannot pop a religion tech or great person tech from a hut.
But you can pop writing.
I did once. I was trailing the AI early on, because of careless play brought on by being drunk. I then traded writing to the writing-less AI for a ****load of techs, which came me just enough of a boost so that I cruised to an early victory.
^ Yeah because Writing is something you definitely can trade to AI's who are capable of tech trading. And even more so, a tech that they value so much that you can gain tech parity.
I hope you mean Alphabet.
Yes, well, of course. Been playing FfH2 a wee bit too much lately (there you need writing to trade techs).
Astronomy! and I can't remember if Education... I get very happy happy if they give me Iron Working early
Animal Husbandry, on the 2nd round of a game as Darius.
It's not the most expensive tech ever. But it was the greatest.
yeah, nothing better than playing an earth map and popping iron working from a hut.
those turn 15 praetorians are fierce
^ I've done that. Popped BW from the hut southeast of Germany, then IW from the hut east of Greece. And on the Gods of Old mod, so I founded the Inanna religion, too.
This is why I always turn those blasted things off. I end up feeling cheated if I didn't get something good from the huts, and I end up feeling like I cheated if I got something good from the huts
I hear that early praetorians make the game a joke even on hard difficulties.
I once got Future Tech 31 from a hut. There was this 2-tile island with a goody hut, and I never bothered to explore it, but when I needed to expand, Tahiti was just calling out to me...
Future Tech 31 was clearly some kind of spa-based technology.
Also, I think you win this thread.
