What about Blue Marble? Surely the two aren't compatible?

Spoiler :

Makednos let the southerns to continue their neverending wars, while he established his kingdom. Korinthos, a city state decided to join the empire as a loose viceroy. Makednos accepted the deal. Through the years Korinthos became the merchant and administrative center in south Greece, while the Macedonian kingdom flourished in the North.

Spoiler :

Korinthos had a great problem. Many seers saw great glory in Korinthos, but this refers to the distant future. Right now Korinthos is a poor city stagnating for food. Korinthians decided to build a temple in honour of Deus to recieve divine help. The priests said that a lot of patience is needed, an answer unpopular in Korinthos, but what else could they do? Nothing...

Spoiler :

After some years the Greeks meet the first people owing to a civilised word. Some minor merchants came from the so called "Canaan". They explored Crete, maybe they were seeking to meet Minoans, however, their power was already past.

Spoiler :

Macedonia extended its influence in west and the east. Epirus, Thrace, Paionia, Thessaly, Aetolia and Akarnia, the whole greek peninsula world was under control of Pella.

Spoiler :

Macedonia proved to be a rich land. Defended by mountains and hills, had access to see and a lot of forests around. A rich source of copper was in the east and a source of fish was discovered in the west.

Spoiler :

The first ancient kingdom just made contact with us. All-powerfull? God-king? Pericles? Hmm, he seems a crazy man. Glad we aren't in the same continent thought Makednos. He just told him "happy to meet you stranger" and let Ramsess to go back to his homeland. Korinthians told Makednos to establish trade relations with Egypt, but he didn't trust other leaders. "We can make it our own." said and went back to his stone throne.

Spoiler :

Korinthians had finished the temple to Deus and trained a boat. However, Korinthos was still a poor country. Korinthians decided to build an even larger temple in favour of Artemis hoping it will bless them better. Makednos grimaced, but without any better idea he let Korinthians to act at will. Moreover, he had refused them to trade with Egyptians. The viceroy was already loose, so going against their will might destroyed the viceroy, something that should be avoided by all means possible.

Spoiler :

Masonry broke out in Greece. A rich marble source was discovered in Korinthos, restoring Korinthians' believes. "Gods didn't gave food yet, but they gave us a usefull resource right under our homes. We hope they will feed our population someday..."

The new technology will be a disaster for many people. Many greeks saw the neighbouring uncivilised people and seeked them to enslave them. "If they can't talk, but still have hands, why not making them work for us?" Strong opposition was held, including Makednos. Slavery movements spawned across the greek world. The revolution seemed inevitable. Many people from his court saw the opportunity to become kings. Makednos' age was about to end very soon.

Spoiler :

The wanna be successors of Makednos agreed only in two things: Adoptions of slavery and Makednos must be replaced. But after that what? The opportunities seemed limitless, so they held a secret council to discuss.

Pythia:
Spoiler :

Pythia was the priestess in the Oracle of Delphoi. She breathed vapours arising from the soil, which is believed to be the spirit of Gods, mainly Apollon and told the prophecies. The first colonist advised Pythia to decide where to colonise.

Pythia seeks to build the oracle. Prophecy has it as follows: "The first oracle to be built in this world will be the greatest in human history." The council is sceptical about Pythia. Should political leaders advise her in the future, or her words are nothing but nosence?

Policy:
*Adopt slavery
*Discover Priesthood
*Build temples

Menelaus:
Spoiler :

Menelaus, king of Sparta. Her wife, the beautiful Helen was stolen by Paris. Menelaus asked for help from all Greeks. The result, Trojan Wars, was one of the most important wars in human history. According to Euripedes, after the Trojan Wars, Helen was moved in captivity in Egypt.

Menelaus wants to take his wife back from Egypt. "They don't want to trade with us? ok! They want to take our wives, well this is unacceptable!" Will this diplomatic dispute between Greece and Egypt, stimulate a great war?

Policy:
*Adopt slavery
*Discover iron-working
*Declare war on Egypt and if possible conquer it.
*Focus on military (baracks, then army)

Odysseus:
Spoiler :

King of Ithaca and hero in the Trojan Wars. Odysseus proved to be a very intelligent man, who explored far away lands, not because he choosed to do so, but because it was his destiny.

Policy:
*Adopt slavery
*Build a colony (open to discussion, I propose spanish silver)
*Explore the map

Vote is now open.

I remind you, that only boldened votes count.

Odysseus, only because of colonies. In game play terms, a colony in Spain is good. How about being ambitious and colonizing London?

Pythia
It's too early for far-off colonies, would be an economical hit. Macedon has to become stronger and colonize nearer right now (Thrace?).

Odysseus
Found Ephesus on the south coast of Anatolia; it would fit very well the city placement of this story and you'll be ready to face future east people invasion.

The voting is now closed.

I vote for Pythia.

Results:
Odysseus: 3
Pythia: 2
Menelaus: 0, poor Menelaus, he cries alone in his empty palace...

Now, where should the colony be found? London would be a great option, and it was my first thougth. But Greeks don't know agriculture and animal husbandry. Moreover, they don't have hapiness source, so London seems a bad option to me for at the moment.

Rostov, Byzantium and Ephesus: I will think about them. Still spanish silver seems a better option to me, more gold, more production.

Spoiler :

The unrest about slavery continued. Makednos was found killed in his residence. Chaos spawn along the empire. The revolution was inevitable and the fight harsh. All know that the defeated would be the slaves of tomorrow, so they fought for their freedom.

At this point there were three fractions, the priesthood, the military and the colonists. Priesthood believed that gods are angry with us, "we neglected them, that' the reason of this chaos", and we should raise more organised religious institutions.

Spoiler :

Menelaus was shouting for war. "Look at this pitty Egyptians: They are so weak, they don't even know how to make metal weapons! Let's go and conquer them, history won't forgive us if we let this unique opportunity."
Spoiler :

Finally, colonists prevailed. Odysseus their leader talked about foreign rich lands, that greeks should aquire. "We to enslave us instead of enslaving others" he said. Without losing time he trained scouts and prepared the boats for exploration.

Spoiler :

Finally, the callings of Korinthians were heard. Gods gave Korinthians the much needed influence to surrounding, food rich, areas. Gods gave so many food sources, that was impossible for Korinthians to work on all of them.

Spoiler :

A new merchant people, the so called Phoenicians appered from the east. They wanted trade relations with us. "Sure why not?" said Odysseus. "Let them explore us, so we can explore them."
Spoiler :

Finally, the expeditions of Odysseus paid off. A tribe of western Hiberia gifted a large amount of gold, so we could continue our research. However, the urals was an other story. The long cousins of us in the depths of protorussians were still barbaric. "What a shame." Thought Odysseus. "It seems sees are much more friendlier that the lands."
A new kingdom was discovered near the Aral sea. However, all communication efforts fail.

Spoiler :

The greek colonists were ready at last. Odysseus went to Pythia and asked her for an advise. "Colonise or not, a great disaster will come upon us! You forgot the gods, and you can do nothing about it anymore!" Odysseus was horryfied from the prophecy. However, he kept the prophecy secret and decided to colonise a rich land. "Let's find a hapiness resource. At least it will help us undergo the consequences.

Spoiler :

The age of game over!

Odysseus found a very rich region south of Sicily. The priesthood told him, that it was an other people's destiny to settle there. Odysseus was always a curius person. "Let's found the city there and see what will happen!" The next year all the clergy died! And a voice came out above the skies: "You fool! 56 turns of playing and done too little for us! Don't you know gambling is a bad thing! You have just run out of time! You refused your destiny and now our bless has gone to other people. You will be forgotten forever in the ashes of history! We should just spawn an indepedent Athens, it would be just the same!"

Spoiler :

Chaos spawn along the greek people! Odysseus was imprisoned for blasphemy, and no leader could gain enough respect. In his prison cell, he was thinking "What went wrong? Maybe we should conquer the weak Egyptians, or ask for the respect of Athena." He was praying to gods for salvation. In his dream he saw the moirai. They were willing to change the route of history if he wanted to. What Odysseus should choose?

Morality:
The most moral option. When you lose a game you lost it. It is like real life, you have only one chance to do things. The experience you gain can be used in other circumstances, but the opportunities lost never, never, never, never, never come back.

Policy:
*End the story

Repeating:
I could be characterised as a very light form of hacking. Saving was prevented to help players continue the game from an unexpected shut down. However, older saves still remain, making possible to begin a different gameline from an older save.

Policy:
*Reload from the start and choose Athena emphasising to the Oracle.

Worldbuilder:
Few games give the opportunity to players to become gods of the game. Fortunatelly, Civ4 is one of them. What can a god do to support his favourite people? Should he give them tanks and nukes? Should he give them a great person and the appropriate techs in time? Should he vanish the competition? Well, you just have to find the tight balance between pleasure and difficulty. The more a god help you, the less pleasure you will feel. Moreover, WB is addcting. Few times of WB and you become so addicted, that you can't play properly anymore.

Policy:
*Reload the previous turn.
*Spot the builder (most propably Babylon), destroy it and rebuilt it.

Coder:
Civ4 gives one more opportunity. Instead of reloading, redisigning, rethinking etc. etc. etc. you can just write your code. What if you lose a goal? Even in WB you must do a reaload. You can just rewrite the code while playing. Python will reload and voila: It seems you built the oracle without even having in one of your cities!

Policy:
*Set the "Oracle built" checked through python.
*Load the current turn and continue.

Spoiler :

Odysseus reaction:
Going back to history? I thought it was impossible?
Worldbuilder? Do you mean Gaia? Maybe Deus?
Coder? What is coding? And what do you mean I'm inside a program?:confused::confused:

Vote is now open.
