I know that the game is out, and they won't really change it in a patch, but we can always hope. I thought that with conquests coming out, the Greeks would have new, better traits. They do not. They are still grouped at Scientific/Commercial. Look at ancient Greece, they were definately Seafarin, and were also religious. Vote in this poll, and show that you are not satisfied with the current Greeks!

I would vote for them to be Sci./Sea. but then they would be exactly the same as the Byzantines

their traits are the best for scientific research. The greeks were very scientific. I don't think it could be more fitting.

 good point then Sci/Sea is my choice

it would be realistic that the Greeks and Byzantines would have the same traits since the Byzantines were mostly Greeks

True. Before the Romans, the Greeks owned all of the land that became Byzantium. Also, the Byzantines were named after the Greek city of Byzantium (which later became Constantinople).

I would say Sea/Sci/Religious, but that would REALLY over power them. That is however included in "None of the above."

The Greeks were definitely Scientific. Geometry is dominated by Greek learners. The likes of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle helped form much of western thinking.

As seafarers only a couple of the city states were really sea powers. Athens and Corinth had large navies but Sparta and Thebes did not, nor as far as I can recall did the Macedonians.

Given the number of wars they fought you could argue that they were militaristic and certainly the Sparta fits this bill very well.

They colonies in southern Italy, Asia minor and the islands of the Agean were as much for econimic reasons as simple expansion.

As for religious, the Greeks lives did not particulary revolve around their religion. Don't be misled by the fact that we have detailed knowledge of the Greek pantheon into thinking that religion was the focus of Greek culture.

I think the current Sci/Comm traits fit them quite well.

I really don't care. You're playing the traits, not truly as the civs.

I agree with Gogf, if any civ should be seafaring then the Greeks should be. Not sure about the other trait but Id probably go with commercial or scientific

:hmm: Sci/Mil Greeks, I think I like that idea

Think of the Illiad. There were supposedly 1000 ships! Look at all the Greek islands. How do you think people got there? Why do you think Poseidon was one of their most important gods?

As a Greek I think Scientific should not be omitted. For the second one I'm between Sea & Mil, anything would be fine. As for Religious, though ancient Greek Gods played a big role in everyday life, Greeks were not exactly "Religious" in the way we mean in today. There were more paganistic elements in their religion. Commercial would also fit, but I think the other traits are more prominent.

Greece could be a lot of traits. If we are talking about Alexander's Greece, then definately Militaristic and definately NOT Seafaring.

Disregarding overlap with another civ, I like Sci/Mil for them.

Militaristic/Scientific

The Greeks such as the Spartans and Macedonians excelled in fighting and the Greeks were forever fighting themselves and the Persians. So for that reason I'd go for militaristic.

The philosophers obviously account for the scientific aspect.
