Gross medical issues

In her opinion as a trained medical professional, my symptoms do not point to cancer. So we're going to eliminate all the other possible causes first.

So they are going to wait and rule out cancer last. I guess if your family has no history of intestinal cancer, then ok. When my dad was my age he had polyps in his intestine, so they wanted to make sure in my case. Turns out I did have a coupe of small, but non-cancerous polyps that they removed during the colonoscopy.

Oh, and btw this is informational:

Also, this person was a medical doctor right? How you parsed 'trained medical professional' seems to put that into question.

I trust her medical opinion that I probably don't have cancer. Also, you have to remember that cost is a major issue here. It's also highly unlikely that if I have cancer that the 2 or 3 weeks it takes to get to that test will be crucial in my survival, particularly since I've been having issues for months now.

I don't have a history of intestinal cancer AFAIK. But in any case, yeah, if the other treatments and tests don't do anything, I'm sure they'll be probing my rectum sooner or later.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, she's a doctor.

Well gee, I came in to brag barge in about my medical issues, seeing hobbs' issues made me feel guilty. :p

Spoiler Therefore, for your convenience. :p :
Kidney issues, mainly, for me. I was born with only one, and the little bastard didn't give me crap until about about a year ago. Guess what it had me go through over the summer? Invasive bladder testing. :cringe: If anyone tells you they're not painful, they're a damn liar. :trouble:

Of course, I knew right away it was my comeuppance for all the stuff I used to post about during my early years online.

Also, hearing loss, vision loss, lower back issues, and mild brain damage. Thanks a lot, alcoholic birthmother.

Anyways, best of luck hobbs. Hope things get better. :)

After reading the links posted here, I'm going to have to start checking my stool more often.

Thanks. Best of luck to you as well, let us know how it all turns out.

It is really only if you poop out black stool then you should worry. Constipation can cause you to bleed a bit, but that is not much of a worry.

Don't feel guilty. I didn't mean this to be some kind of 'I have it worse than you' thread. And I clearly don't, either.

_______

It hurts worse today than it did yesterday, which hurt worse than the day before and so on. I hope this trend doesn't continue. I've gone from 'no big deal' pain to real discomfort.

Something to listen to for anyone interested in Parasites:

http://www.radiolab.org/2009/sep/07/

"What's gotten into you? In this hour, Radiolab uncovers a world full of parasites.

Could parasites be the shadowy hands that pull the strings of life? We explore nature's moochers, with tales of lethargic farmers, zombie cockroaches, and even mind-controlled humans (kinda, maybe). And we examine claims that some parasites may actually be good for you."

That sounds really terrible, especially because they didn't know what you had. Are you better now?

The only way I feel better is total elimination of foods that make me sick, but I am finding more foods that make me sick every day :( The first thing to go was dairy and after awhile after stopping it I started to feel better but then things started to get worse again. The next thing I eliminated was all grain products (my doctor recommended just wheat products, but other grain based foods made me just as sick, even those that were gluten free.) The next thing to go was soy products and that did make me feel better since i normally ad soy milk with tea, after giving up cereals for breakfast. Now I've added eggs to the list since I was feeling sick at breakfast after having bacon, eggs and baked beans. I removed baked one time and I still got the problems, so I removed the eggs and that made me feel better. I just can't wait until I can eat normally again.

I've had Crohn's for a few years.

It isn't gross. And frankly my only noticeable symptoms are significant weight loss (my doctor thought I was perhaps anorexic when I was first diagnosed!) and occasional fatigue. And a good number of foods I can handle without too much issue - not to mention I should be eating tons of food anyways, since I can't absorb nutrients as well due to Crohn's (which is why funnily enough I've heard that junk food and fast food are good for people with Crohn's (in reasonable amounts, of course) because it's a great way to get a lot of energy and stuff quickly).

Dealing with the medical bills and overbearing parents is really more stressful than the disease itself.

So basically I wish you the best dealing with this.

Don't let it get to your head.

Thanks cybrxkhan, I try not to let it get to my head. It's hard not to think about though when you're in constant discomfort. It's not unbearable, but persistent.

In my case I really don't feel any pain at all, or any discomfort. Frankly I don't even have diarrhea, which is a common symptoms of Crohn's (I think). The worst is that sometimes I feel a little tired, but that doesn't feel too different from having a long day or having gone through an strenuous experience. The mental stress is what is really annoying - worrying about paying for medical treatment (I'm a college student, so what money would have gone to paying my loans are going to paying medical treatment, and that doesn't make me very happy), and in my case having to be patient around my parents who care for me a bit too much. I've heard that there isn't any scientific evidence for or against this, but sometimes I feel as if my stress level contributes to how bad my Crohn's is at the moment - if I'm more stressed about things, including Crohn's itself, then I tend to feel more exhausted and such; if I'm not as stressed, I tend to feel a better, and I might even gain a little bit of weight.

So yeah, keep calm, that's my best suggestion here. Unless if it turns out to be some life or death thing, you'll probably make it one way or another, or adapt to it.
