I just experienced that bad thing today. I was downloading the latest drivers for my philips seismic edge sound card on the official manufacturer site! I had dual boot win98/2000. My main system was 2K of course, and i never though about installing an antivirus on 98.
Then I also had the stupid idea installing the updates on win98 first!! Those updates were infected with the funlove 4099 virus. Yes the website was infected. That caused me a pain in the a** erasing win2k and reinstalling everything. Took me 6hours! Grrr. If I catch the programmer of that virus he'll loose his hands. For sure.

Anyway, next time scan all your stuff, even from the official sites. Never trust anyone, anything but your own updated antivirus! My words of wisdom. Oh and also install the antivirus on all the OS on your machine! And backup backup backup...
I was lucky that virus was not too hard to remove and not too naughty either... But well that taught me a lesson. Hehe mac have less virii! :p

Hmm, that reminds me of the time this summer when i installed my current harddrive, after finishing installing WinME (urg), i didn't think of installing an anti-virus program... When i finally got one, my whole drive was infected with the W95/Kuang.gr virus, that crap spreads like a plague. I had to start all over again.
