No, it does not have anything to do with common people in the countries colored. It is about something that binds them together though.

The color pattern is a bit sketchy, the blue is related to the ancient era, the purple to the medieval, and the orange to far more modern times.

Where the Danes went/ruled/conquered, I presume? They certainly went to Ireland, Iceland and Greenland and were kings of Sweden during the Kalmar Union.

It's not that either. Surprise: It has to do with Greece :)

And before you mention some weird Irish templar division taking part in the fourth crusade, the origin of the link is in ancient Greece ;)

    Correct :)

I had made a thread about that in the history forum, recently, so it could have been detected somewhat easily- or not. Still was an obscure theme though.

That would have been challenging to come up with on my own. And by challenging I mean impossible.

Hmm, didn't see the thread, but the hint and Scandinavia, Iceland & Greenland gave it away for me.

@VWRCAgent, I made this map myself just using Paint, so it is not that hard to do. :)

Obviously something related to the British Empire. My guess would be places a British military officer and/or governor served and the colour idicates the type of service.

The Netherlands, Scotland and Eire are coloured separately to England/Wales and Northern Ireland. In fact, only Afghanistan, Kenya and Canada are also coloured red, whereas none of the British Overseas Territories outside of the Caribbean are coloured in.

Looking at that map, it might well be cricket, yes, but why include places like the Netherlands?

Hm, it might be, from the wiki article:

So i guess red is countries where cricket used to be popular but not anymore, and black is where it is still somewhat popular or very popular?

(if it is the correct answer, open floor :) )

Edit: Btw, weren't those card-soldiers and officials playing something like Cricket in the Alice in Wonderland story? Could explain the choice of colors for this map (red and black)

I wasn't aware that Guyana (or, indeed, the Netherlands) played cricket. Well, someone has to make Australia look good.
