It's about the end of feudal China... In 1027, Chou defeated Shang and created a feudal sistem by giving lands to administrate to their relatives, but in 771 BC they were defeated by barbarians and forced to move to Loyang-Luoyi, in central China, but soon feudal states started an horrile wars' series to gain supremacy. At first - the Chun Qiu period - chinese emperor demanded to the strongest feudal lord ( Ba, or Lord Protector ) to punish rebels, but when Kou-chien, lord of Yueh, become Lord Protector, it was clear that this system failed and big feudal states begun to exterminate little ones, especially after the "splitting" of the biggest state, Chin, into three smaller feudal states of Han, Chao and Wei. This left only Ch'i, Ch'u and Ch'in to compete for supremacy. At first Ch'u was the strongest, but only until their general Wu Chi was killed. Then Ch'i gained supremacy thanks to Sun Pin, another brilliant general, but failed to stop Ch'in. From 403 BC, Ch'in adopted legalist laws, defeated northern barbarians, and suddenly conquered Shu and Pa states in 316; Lord Zhao proclaimed himself Western emperor in 288 BC and then estinguished Chou in 249. But conquer remaining feudal states was another history...
The scen starts with the Han kingdom destruction at the hands of Yin Zheng, Lord Zhao descendant, after a desperate revolt, and stop at 210 BC, year of his death.
