Hi Civfanatics!!
Iam working on mod now for about a year or so and I run into a issue which I can't answer myself.

Did the german and Italian forces in WWII have a marine corps? You know....guys that jump out of a boat and run into in heavily armed beach!
I know the Japanese, US, UK, Canadian, French ect ect had.

Also I let the armed forces of Italy, upgrade their forces into a Marshall Plan Cargo Truck in 194x and their airforce upgrade to an Royalist Air Force Pilot. Royalist Air Force Pilot in CIVIII is a WWII cargo plane. Later in the game u can upgrade it to a F-86 Sabre. The Marshall Plan Cargo Truck has more options; U can upgrade it later in the game to a M47 Patton, it can Join a City or Finish Improvements.

For the Germans same thing...Marshall Plan Cargo Truck --> M47 Patton.
Only I don't know what to do with their planes. Their was no Royalist Air Force and so I don't know what to do with it. Maybe u guys have a good idea? I was thinking of upgrade to an Military Equipment box which can't do anything until the year 1956 when the Bundeswehr air arm was founded.

Also the Waffen-SS wil be upgradable to a Prisoner of War (worker) unit and the germans will only be able to build National Reserve Infantrymen and Police/Boarder Guards from 1945 until 1955

So the above configuration means that, if u play Germany or Italy u need some good planning in army movements

DAmm sorry, wrong forum! Can we put it in the creation & Customiz folder tnx!

Italy had a commando-marine troop leaded by prince Valerio Borghese:
the Battalions N and NP There were 2 special units in the RE Battaglione N and P in the San Marco Regiment who after September 8th 1943 formed no more than a single unit battaglione the "NP" in the X MAS Flottiglia of RSI (Social Republic of Italy in Salo in the north).
This unit will act in Tunisia and after the fall of Tripolitania she was repatriated to Italy after the dissolution of the Forza Naval Speciale on January 5th 1943, the Battalions are made to the disposition of the Ispettorato Generale dei MAS (Generalmas). After Armistice things get complicated for Italians
From next we found cobelligerants forces with the CVE FORZA MARIASSALTO while in the party remained true to Duce we found Battaglione "NP" in the X ° MAS and they will attack throughout the end of the 2 ° GM.
NP Battaglione (The Battalion. NP), had 6 companies with a common drive very hard on land or at sea.

German formed commando-marine troop at the end of the war. They used midget subs: Biber, Hecht,... Germany formed in 1945, 3 Kriegsmarine (marine) Division but they were used like infantry. Kriegsmarine had also many land troop in coastal batteries along de Westwall (Atlantik wall) and in the Mediterranean theater (Greece, south of France, ....)

So Italy and Germany had not really a marine corps but special marine troops.

In preparation for Operation Sealion, Germany had 210 Pz III and IV Tauchpanzer (diving tanks) and additional 52 Pz II swimming tanks.

They could be launched kilometers away from the beach and roll at the ground of the sea to the coast. The navigation commands came from the commandoboats via radio to the tanks and it was not so difficult to navigate such a Tauchpanzer. They could reach a diving depth of 15 meters and had 3 additional meters as reserve.

When these tanks roll on land they could be used like normal tanks. The 3 Panzerabteilungen A, B and C (there also was a D) later formed the Panzerregiment 18 of the 18th Tankdivision and were used for crossing the river Bug at the start of Operation Barbarossa.

I think, if you google with the word Tauchpanzer, you will get some hits, even in English.

This is only slightly OT maybe but if anyone has color pics of WW II German or Italian marines would you post them please? I would like to animate them.

Thanks. :)
