I don't mean the usual suspects, like shaka, Monty, or Izzy. Granted there aren't really too many AI's I'm ever happy to see, but some of them just annoy me. (This post is entirely for fun, btw)

Mansa- For being such a nice guy, i don't think anyone (human) is happy to see Mansa. He often runs away with the game if left unchecked. He bugs me because he always wants to trade, but i know that I'm getting a bad deal no matter how sweet it may seem. At the very least i know he'll trade anything I give him for more stuff.

Charlamagne- This guys resemblance to the creepy Burger King is enough. I've even taken to calling him burger king or King Vitamin. His image is so ridiculous I can't stop expecting him to pull a burger out and try to offer it to me. He's only a bit better than....

Hammurabi- This guy looks like the result of Santa Claus and a Garden Gnome in the brundlefly machine. If that wasn't enough that stupid sweeping motion he does when he first appears is driving me nuts. Mainly because i can't even see what he's indicating. Is he in a new car showroom or something? (Babylon motors?)

Zara- He needs a new suit. He looks like he's wearing a sweatsuit at first glance which throws me off. He already resembles my cousin, somewhat. I keep expecting him to ask for a ride to work and then bust some raps on me.

Qin whatever-the-heck-his-name-is- His motions too, bug me. He always does the "jump back" thing like you're about to hit him, then he does the "gimme gimme gimme" hand motion which immediately turns me off.

Well, I'll at least admit though while i'm never really too glad to see them there are some AIs that are amusing. Huayna Cápac and his trembling make me chuckle when he gets upset. Pacal really cracks me up when he gets mad. He looks like a scary horror movie kid. I'm betting he's got 3 6's on the back of his head.

I used to always be happy to see Mansa, actually. Both of us always went for Free Market, so I could usually count on him liking me enough to not declare war on me. Now that I tend towards Environmentalism, though, he's not so good to have around, especially since I've moved up to Noble.

Anyway, I hate having Mehmed or Pacal near me, since they always cut me off with their rapid expansion and end up outperforming me in every respect because of it.

Also, for some reason, every game I've played that had Gilgamesh ended with my defeat by someone else's hands. It's just odd luck, of course, but I still consider meeting him a bad omen.

He has so much character, though. I love the greedy look he gives you when he accepts your deals.

Isabel. She's totally deranged.

And Ragnar. He likes to engage in 100-years wars. And his people never seem to get war-weariness...

Gandhi. If he builds nears me, I'll eventually see his culture eat away at my empire- even if I build lots of culture in the border cities. I don't have that problem with anyone else. Gandhi's just horrible.

I LOVE seeing Isabella. It's like a guaranteed early war with no diplo penalties.

I HATE seeing Zara. He's guaranteed to grab all the available land and have Satellites by 1000 AD somehow keeping the largest army. I hate hate hate seeing Zara.

Also, I hate seeing Ghandi for aberwak's above stated reason and Mansa for the extremely fast Teching rate.

Yeah, Mansa's a pain in the ass whether he's your neighbor or on the other side of the planet. Every war carries the potential to fall far behind in techs.

I like seeing Zara and Izzy, esp. when someone's out teching Izzy to the religions. Zara's good for trading, and if Izzy's not getting religion, you can "gift" her one...>>

I hate, hate, HATE seeing one of the psyco Aggro AIs next door.

Zara doesn't out tech you into the ground? Wow. Please do share your tactics! :) No matter how amazing my SE is, and no matter how many techs I bulb and techs I trade with lesser civs to get the fill-ins, he is still almost always 2 or more techs ahead of me.

I like seeing aggressive civs near me. If they are too close, you can coerce them into early war with you so you can land grab via war. If they are close but not stifling, you can make them allies for the entire game. Since they are aggressive, keep them up-to-date on techs, keep them friendly, and war alongside them often.

I haven't reached past Warlord....so I haven't had reason to hate him yet....

I hate the khemer guy, he creates a HUGE empire and if you're dumb enough to fight against him you'll end up with about 20 SOD's heading for your capital. Plus he's uglier than if me and Hillary Clinton had a baby.

I like Giligimish because when you tick him off he grabs you by the shirt and pulls you to him.

I don't like Shaka because I was near him once and he declared war on me in the early game, I had to quit because my army was too puny to stand against him.

I like Hammurabi - never mind his looks. In my experience, he is a thoroughly decent neigbour who won't attack you unless you positively beg for it; and he does not spam spies either, unlike some other "friends". And if you are behind him in research, he's often willing to give you a technology or two.

Leaders I always have problems with are Joao (always the weakest in the first part, always the strongest at the end), Isabel (she ALWAYS hates me) and the popular aggressive warmongers (shaka and monty).

Leaders I always go on well with are Wang Kon and Roosevelt.

About Mansa, well, it doesn't matter what I think.... he's in EVERY game I play!!!! Call it a coincidence, but he's ALWAYS in!!

Persians (Cyrus) throughout my whole CIV experience since CIV III and they always win just like that. Cyrus in the game... Cyrus is the winner

Hammurabi .... makes me nuts just like Cyrus .if Cyrus isn't in the game then Hammurabi will win

Mansa is great as a neighbour, you can tech much faster with him as your trading partner and he doesn't put up much of a fight if you decide that he's of no use to you.

Gilgamesh is horrible. Protective and Creative means huge losses if you want to take his cities.

Isabel is great. She'll either be your best friend or she'll hate you, but she's so busy chasing religions that her capital will be defended by warriors for the first few thousand years.

Sitting Bull is infuriating. He's pretty much invincible in the opening stages of the game.

Zara I don't mind. Yes he keeps up in tech and has a massive army but I count that as a good thing. I can usually out-tech him.

I dislike Shaka as a neighbor. He almost always declares war on me even if I can easily repel him. That and I almost always end up next to him when I am someone like the mongols[horse UU and all that....].

I dont hate anyone in particular, Mansa is alwaus strong in my games, the India leaders usually are easy kills if near me. Zara is quite quick to jump ahead if not checked, as well as Gilgamesh. Agreed that Ragnar is a dumb warlord, years and years of war for nothing if a sea divide us, at least in ancient ages...

Please do give some tips on how to keep up with Zara! Unless he is quite close to you, his expansion is usually endless. I've never had a game where Zara didn't have a huge landmass. Given this huge landmass, he is usually able to tech much much faster than everyone especially with Financial trait

It may be that I have only played against him on noble and prince but I usually have within 8% points of his landmass and population[him being first in one usually and me being second in one]. Since my cities are better placed/optimized and I don't use the espionage slider very often I can usually crank out a tad bit more research. His army always is larger than mine[mine is usually better trained though]. I just make sure to stay freindly with him so he doesn't DoW on me.

 Catherine cracks me up. If you try to offer her something she doesnt want, she'll pull you close and slap you across the face. Just. Like. THAT. haha.
