Gentlemen i finally decided to post my WOTW scenario now that i am also doing a PTW version of the same.

Some Home Rules.

The Scenario is designed to be played as the Martians if you play as a human civ sometimes the Martians never leave the British Isles.

The Martians cannot negoiate with the Human Civs, you MUST research all Martian techs first. To simulate the setting up of a completely new infrastructure.

You have just enough troops to take the British Isles in one turn so don't waste them. One hint Black Smoke is Critical to the conquest of the Humans and only your Tripods may carry them. Remember that the Human Civs will be making units like crazy. They start out weak but get stronger rapidly.

This scenario is based on the Imperialism 1870 scenario by Exile who did great work on constructing that scenario.

I would like constructive critiques so i can improve the scenario.

Enjoy Thorgrimm

Have you been in contact with Phenix Benton (Exile on apolyton.net), the dude who made the IMPERIALISM 1870 scen?

No i have not and thank you for letting me know who created the scenario and its name i had forgotten that information and will now give the proper credit as the scenario it is based on.

Scenario already removed check first post for date of removal

Well this is sad to hear.
As much as I like the Imp scen some people have to learn that we're living in a world of change. Things that are perfect today can be obsolete tomorrow. Some people clearly have to learn this. We're living in a fast changing world. Everything changes so why should people not be allowed to use existing things and create new ones.

As much as I can see Thorgrimm never claimed this work to be his. From the beginning he said that he copied some things and furthermore this scen is so popular it would be ridiculous to claim it.

It's really sad that some people are stuck in their pattern and never look beyond the boundary. Ok Exile is a scen creating veteran and one of the best but there are so many young designers out there which may be good one time too.

We have to look at it this way:
Many people are good but may have problems in one matter or the other (drawing units, scripting events or city placement,...) and therefore looking a scen they can base their work on. While doing this they learn and next time they can do a complete stand alone work but when we refuse them their base then they might quit and we lost one valuable civ designer which might one day be the new rising star but are now lost due to the arrogance and ignorance of the designers.

We really must learn to accept the new time and I think there is nothing wrong when you take something and doing something new with it.

I support every new designer because every community needs fresh blood from time to time :goodjob:

Exile already answered these issues in the thread link I posted above.

His issues are as follows;

1.) No PERMISSION was granted. In fact, the actual issue of a legal copyright seems to be up in the air; he might well have a legal right to his scenarios. If that's the case, then permission is imperative, not simply a courtesy. In any case, ASKING permission is only the RIGHT thing to do. Who can deny this? Is this really a debatable issue?

2.) Exile's scenarios are complex pieces of work. There are numerous, subtle aspects that are not obvious at first glance. Altering the contents IN ANY WAY could easily upset checks and balances created in the original scenario, and would render it unbalanced or unplayable. Oddly enough, this has already happened to Exile once before. What's the old saying? "Once burned, twice shy." If Exile is "one of the best," then perhaps it's because he doesn't allow others to alter and change his work. And that's exactly what he said--his reputation as a scenario designer is what is on the line. Looks to me like he has to fight to keep it intact in the face of repeated attempts to bastardize and ripoff his work.

3.) In retrospect, the REACTION of thorgrimm certainly doesn't speak well of his personal integrity, does it? Throwing a childish temper tantrum (to use Exile's own words), is hardly what one can call a mature response.

4.) Exile makes an excellent point when he states, "If you want to create a scenario, DO IT." Difficult to argue with that one.

Have you included sound files based on Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" musical? (I mean, surely the record company wouldn't be anal enough to claim copyright infringement!) Not to mention making the virus which destroyed the Martians in the novel, a wonder of the world which only humans have the tech to build?

I'm not gonna whine about copyrights, because I have nothing to gain from it, BUT I would like to know where I can find both the original and altered versions of TWOTW scenarios, thanks!
