Trying to build too many wonders on higher levels.
Get mad at an AI for missionary/prophet spamming me... and declaring war on said AI*
Settle in the AI's face to grab all best city spots (luxuries, NWs etc), more war.
Forget to switch from production in city back to growth after building a wonder etc.

*(When I am aiming for a peaceful victory, bloodbath ensues as other AI join in)

Also, having a tendency to wait to build up a military until after I have Armories and the Heroic Epic.

Because of my wonder whoring teching education last in the medievel era.
Getting at least 80% of the wonders on king
Generally not having a second city until turn 80

Lacking the eye for detail to time things properly.

Improving land that a city isn't going to work soon when I could be improving a city that needs it.

Settling city 3 or 4, and the realising ten turns later that I've badly delayed my NC because of that.

Playing at 5am, for just one more turn, and not being able to focus my vision properly.

That is my ABSOLUTE problem. I also get too impatient for waiting on philosophy to tech, especially with a domination civs like Rome. Who have uniques on the other half of the tech tree

Some of these sound familiar, I often have Machinery before Education (Longbows, man!)
However, my worst fault is carefully managing my citizens and specialists for the first half of the game or so, then forgetting about it when I'm busy on some major campaign - and only remembering to check about 30 turns later, by which time there's a queue to sign on!
Every game I swear I'll be more diligent but I tend to get caught up in World Domination...

Playing for hours and hours and neglect complete micro-managing due to lack of concentration or laziness. And also as stated before, building all the buildings. Stock Exchange in cities that generate only 4 GPT etc.

Bad technology beeline - i.e. spending turns researching technologies that are useless when I should be beelining for those techs that unlock the Wonders I need.

Sending my worker all the way to the other end of my territory to mine that gold only to realize I hadn't researched mining yet (slaps palm on forehead).

    1. Going honor
    2. Building workers
    3. Delay NC
    4. Start early war
    5. Build to many cities despite going honor - this greed is what is really slowing me down...

Biggest one for me is being too picky about city placement so I just don't settle one so I end up with fewer cities and can't get the science output to win quickly and efficiently

Going Monument-Scout-Shrine-Library-Granary-NC-Settler (with a CS worker stolen in the middle of that) more-or-less without any deviation.

Focusing too much on improving cities instead of expanding.

I can see how that might be problematic. Play Ethiopia, would be my advice, then at least you can drop the Shrine, and also benefit from having fewer cities than your opponents.
