1.29beta2 is fine, and welcome to the HOF!:band::dance:

Dianthus mentioned this query to me.

1.29b2 is the last patch for the MacSoft version of Civ3. It runs the same as version 1.29f on a PC, and produces compatible save files. The HoF submission system will not be able to see any difference.

Aspyr now have the Civ franchise for Mac versions, though, and they have released a Civ3 Complete edition that includes Conquests version 1.22 and Play the World version 1.27. You might want to check that out and maybe buy it.

Any Mac players wanting to use Civ3 Complete for a HOF submission should be aware that the first release of this software doesn't create compressed manual save files. We are waiting for a patch from Aspyr that should fix this. Meanwhile you will have to use my FileValet utility to compress your saves for submission (see my sig for a link). When you do this the Civ3 Complete saves will also appear as PC files to the HoF submission system.

The reason I know the submission system will be happy to accept Mac files from these applications is because we use Dianthus' software for the GOTM submissions and it works just fine :)

I don't even have time to play C/GOTMs. I would never find time to play a HoF game

Great, now I only need a good score. :)

Or a good date. Note that most of the tables are fastest finish, so score is only relevant as a tie-breaker!

When might the June update be happening?

Thank you.

I'm really sorry about that. I just got unusually busy today and didn't have time. It will definitely be done on Friday!

No need to be sorry, I didn't even realise the 15th has passed us until now. A far cry from 6 posts pleading for an update like the old days.

And I must say Superslug, you must have a "slugsense", I'd only just posted a moment ago, thank you again.

Hmph. There was a time there would be pages of posts demanding an update that happened every couple of months. This was of course back when I was growing up and had to walk backward uphill in the snow to school without shoes. Life in the HOF is certainly a bit more regular with the current administration isn't it? :mischief:

Thanks to a discussion over in the GOTM forums (spoiler thread), I have a question about the old rank exploit bug. There seem to be no PTW or Vanilla games in the top HOF Spaceship and Diplomatic games. Does that mean that the old games that used the exploit were removed, or does that mean that the Conquests games ended up being better anyway? I mean, 4-turn research is 4-turn research no matter how much corruption you do or don't have. Just curious.

The Free Palace Rank exploit is not forbidden by the HoF Rules. I am however not sure if this means that C3C is just better at this victory condition or if no one put the time and effort into using the exploit (which is pretty difficult to set up) You of course are welcome to give it a go :D

btw list of allowed/disallowed is <<Here>>

I saw that discussion as I've finally got around to playing a COTM game for the first time in ages. I just didn't bother to post my disagreement (speaking as someone that has never used this exploit in a HoF game) as I couldn't be bothered.;) I think that it is easier to get four turn research in C3C because of the over-powered specialists. I also think that the HoF dates are better because of the ability to choose the starting save from a large selection of maps generated using mapfinder plus the option of choosing your opponants to provide as much assistance as possible, rather than attributing good dates to the use of exploitative techniques. Oh, and don't forget SGLs are allowed in HoF.

How do I submit a Diplo game? I mean, if I submit the save one turn before victory there is still plenty to be done inbetween turns (free tech trick, switching to UN etc) and it may just not be so obvious to everybody what needs to be done and how.

You can and should submit the turn after your win, I believe.

Yes, ALL games must be SAVed and submitted the turn AFTER you win. You'll need to click on "Just lemme play a couple more turns" after you go through the "win" process....then save the file and submit it. :)
