Handwriting

I have bad handwriting, too. No scanner, so look at the image. I don't handwrite much in RL unless it is really short; I almost always type.

@ Fred: I think you have very appropriate handwriting for a lawyer. It's almost like the British Queen's actually!

@ Mathilda: The film work I did was mainly the financial and organisational aspect. So it isn't that different to what I do now.

@ Feline: Yeah that writing of your is BUTCH. :p

@ Taliesin: I'm amazed that you managed to produce such neat and attractive handwriting even through MSPaint!

A sample of mine.

I was going to be a doctor, but I was told my writing was too neat.

My handwriting has developed into half handwriting half printing, I'll Print almost all capital letters and any Ms, Ns, Zs, Vs, Ws, Ls, and Qs and Ss. The rest are handwriten, though neatly handwriten most don't resemble what your taught in school. My r is still and r, I just reverse back along it and go on to the next letter from the bottom

I think I was about 16 when I started doing the 'funky' tails on my 'y', 'g', 'j' etc. It has stuck ever since and now I can't write these letters any other way, at least not without a concentrated effort.

@ Turner: The speed with which you write at doesn't seem to make much difference.

Yeah, I know. I really concentrated on neat writing, and it slowed way down. Seemed like I turned on a rocket engine when I just wrote what I was thinking.

It was a bit neater, but not much.

French and Frech Swiss handwriting is very distinctive.
Actually this has got me thinking. Every single Francophone person I know has very similar handwriting. This includes people from France, Switzerland, Ivory Coast and what used to be Zaire.

I believe this is because the French adopted an empire wide education system ie. everyone in the French empire had EXACTLY the same educational curriculum.

Interestingly, British people have far more individual styles of writing. There is much greater variety. Strange no?

I luv writing stuff down by hand. Especially writing letters to friends who are overseas or away from home etc.... just makes it more personal somehow.
Many of my friends tell me my handwriting is crap and ask how in the world I passed my exams (in fact she is sitting next to me right now nodding away to what i am typing...hehehehe :D )
If i can find the time later i'll post a pic of my handwriting. My notes from when i used to take notes in uni classes were pretty illegible to anyone but me. Think 'n', 'v', 'r', 'h', 'i' as all looking pretty much the same in a word; also 'o', 'a', 'e' look the same often. weird even for me.

I think handwriting is important, is much more personal, more reflective of oneself (irrespective of graphology) and on a side note i think the overall standard of cursive writing around the world seems to have degenerated. we weren't really taught it at school, but that may just be a failing of the education system here. ;)

Anyway, i luv handwriting.... especially seeing how others write....

I spend quite some time in elementary school copying letters with the nice round shapes... Well, at least they were supposed to be nice

Wow... this is really sad. Apparently, I belong to an engangered species. Am I really among so few people in prefering writing to typing?

I type only when necessary. All my notes are written... even my shopping lists are written on tiny pieces of paper I ripped from envelopes or anything instead of my cellphone... amazing.

Hands cramp when writing? Wow. Just wow.

Don't worry, I'm with you on this one brother :D

Me too. I like typing for papers and such-- but there's a unique joy to be had in writing.

Typing was a liberation to me. I've always hated writing, especially longhand.

It's not that I don't appreciate hand-writing something, it's just that for me, typing is easier.

I'll have to go through my work notes and see if any are okay for release. They're a far cry worse than the sample I provided.
