Note that communitas is no longer bigger than continent. Not sure why, but the communitas map script was changed in the February version.

His testing environment is actually duel-sized donut maps with 42 Gandhi AI's placed, which is, I assume, how everyone plays anyway,

I've played the February map and it feeled much bigger. With only 8 standard civs everyone should be able to found 10 cities, that's a bit more than the other standard maps. We'll see.

At least he is testing in a better environment than the "improved" 17th February Communitas.

Take up your complaints on communitas with the people who edited it and asked me to include the changes. Not my concern nor work.

It was the original author who modified it, and I asked for the inclusion. We can't make it work for everybody's taste, but we are already testing the map script with a few changes, so we could ask the author to let us use a customized map script that is more widely accepted. Namely, bigger size, less short rivers and slightly less mountains. All these can easily be tweaked in the lua file.

The mod should probably include the original and the new modified one as a different name.

Wait, Thal asked for communitas to be included? I thought that was the original author?

    Work continues, brief update:

    - Proportional model reverted - it was doing weird things to smaller cities and I can't find an easy UI method to relate it. So it's gone. Back to the old system of 1 = 1 for yield per pop deficit. Easy.
    - Continued work on UI, tightening up unhappiness TT and adding an indicator for unhappy cities to city banner (TT for 'statuses' moved here, removes some clutter).

So we're back to bigger productivity related to bigger unhappiness.

    G,

One idea we batted around briefly was around revolts. Instead of just losing a city, what if a revolt instead triggered an event that gave you a few choices: (lose the city, crush the rebellion, make it a puppet, etc).

My main question was, is it possible to use such s hard coded event without activating the whole event system? If you have to have any events on to make it work than I wouldn’t consider it

Define weird for us, maybe we can help. We’re the numbers too large, too small, too random?

No, this was only a problem cause the median was based on our own productivity (nation median). Raising now productivity is always good.

Raising your productivity will always be good, but if everyone raise their productivity, it is bad for everyone.
And that was probably one of the reasons why late-game happiness was difficult. Having swings of "1 gold per citizen" in a city is more and more possible as the game advance.

Yes but with the way happiness scales in cities now it’s easier to manage.

True. And this solution is also easier to explain.
By the way, it should be part of the civilopedia that one unhappiness from poverty is "one gold per citizen missing" (and some for the others).

Speak for yourself, I am neither a number of any size nor randomness because I'm not a number to begin with.

Random. Since it was proportional, you could suffer 9 unhappiness if you were missing half of your yields in an 18 pop city...even if the difference as only 1 culture per turn. And then it would jump up and down 4-5 every turn.

It’s just not good. Too chaotic and the UI can’t show how it works easily.
