No they aren't forum members, but politically minded historical figures and noted entertainers Bob Marley and Ronald Reagan share an Aquarius birthday today. Happy Birthday, wherever your spirits reside!

hey, hey, mon...take a toke for tha' gippa', mon.

[pimp]

May Bob Marley never know his songs are now just only commercialised and destroyed for the gain of idiot Djs...:(:(:(:(

playing catch a fire for bob, ronald and everybody else

I'd like to think they'd both enjoy this one of Bob's sentiments:

What life has taught me
I would like to share with
Those who want to learn...

Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be persued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

(well, at least the part where he says "war")

Reagan is 92 today.

The man did so many things, and his life ends in the cluthes of a desease that robs him of his identity.

He can't even remember his own wife and family.

Old age can be a horrible thing.

At least George Clooney can enjoy making fun of him now.

On a brighter note, Axl Rose is 41 today! I guess he's not deserving of a mention in the title?

Welcome CFC Stile, interesting first post.

Yeah, I'd have to give Axl Rose, author of such sentiments as "I used to love her, then I had to kill her" and "police and niggers, get out of my way" a distant third to the other two.

Thanks for the welcome, Sultan. I was mainly teasing with my post, but I think I can make an argument to tie him for 2nd (if we only use lyrics of course).

(That's why we gonna be)
Burnin' and a-lootin' tonight

and the quote
"I want to say 'I shot the police' but the government would have made a fuss so I said 'I shot the sheriff' instead..."

In the 80's I was never impressed with Reagan as a leader,
though I did figure him to be a funny and charismatic man.

I will say it is a cruel fate for a great man like him to suffer.

Bob Marley paid the price for abusing his body for years...

Oh really? :p

"Back off b***h!"

Go ahead and pick the songs that are supposed to be taken lightly and misinterpret them....... :nuke:

You guys are funny. Good one anarchywrksbest. And Stiles, you should know by now that it is perfectly PC to talk about looting the upper classes and killing cops. But if you should injure a looter on their way out the door - LOOKOUT! The PCPolice are watching! ;)

(PS- In Bob's defense, he didn't shoot the deputy. He could have, but he didn't).

*Warning: Contoversial Opinion Coming*

Bob Marley was more influential than Regan ever was.

EDIT: Not that Regan was bad or anything...

Not controversial at all mordhiem. Every walk into a bar in Dar Es Salaam and see somebody with their hair grecian formulaed back wearing a Reagan t-shirt? I didn't think so. Bob Marley's emphasis on One Love and world unity singlehandedly thawed out Russia and ended the cold war. :)

Bob Marley died of a cancer that started as skin cancer. The fatal abuse he did to his body was being half white and spending his life in the Jamaican sun.
