Hardware driver question

I am about to give up so I thought I would ask everybody over here. This forum is very active and the people helpful about FfH and hopefully with this.

My Civ4 BtS has 'broke' with the 3.13 patch. It freezes and unfreezes randomly and often making it almost unplayable. It also flickers and I can briefly see patterns in the flash like almost a grid. It can crash to desktop generating a microsoft error report or even quickly flash the blue screen of death before rebooting. If it doesn't crash when I exit Civ4 the system is unstable with flickering screen.

I read through everything I can find in the Tech Support forum. I've reinstalled/ totally removed Civ4 (registry entries and folders) and updated DirextX already. The problem is ONLY with patch 3.13 which I am fairly certain installs correctly. If I play un-patched or 3.03 it works fine or play Civ4 vanilla.

My question is this. Those that use nvidia video cards what version of driver do you use?

I'm open to any suggestions people might have. In case you ask my system specs: Athalon X2 3800, 1Gb ram, 7600GT, WinXP SP2

Had issues under CivIV with the last 163 version I tried, running 162.18 without problems(7900 gtx sli)

I have an nVidia GeForce 6800 with the 6.14.11.6218 version of the drivers.

I have a 8800 GTS with the most current drivers and it is working fine for me, are you sure your drivers are up to date?

I have tried many different versions of drivers with similar results. I'm going to try a different video card soon and see if it is my card.
