mm interesting, if some madman using this spell besides me?
Chaotic, risky, unpredictable.
What situations you had with it?
What are your tactics?
I been lately playing with OO disciple way lanun alot (mutated stygs with inqs/speakers/cultists/hemah) and using alot chaos sphere (sorcery/Divine)
wut are your exp with Chaos sorcery/Divine spheres ?

The major thing I use hastur's razor for (although, granted, I don't think it's that great, so I don't usually take it) is the follows.

Since it randomly redistributes damage throughout the stack, it tends to hurt everyone a little bit, and "heal" your worst off. Often, when I'm on the offense, I have a few "nutcrackers" to take the city, and a bunch of support and garrison guys. The thing is, I can't really advance without the shock troops, who need to heal 2-3 turns in between battles much of the time. With Hastur's razor, I redistribute the damage, and can often heal the stack faster.

Every unit gets to heal, so it's a way to vastly multiply your stack's total healing potential. The larger the stack, the more units the damage is spread to and the more get to heal.

Razor followed by Regeneration can take a stack with several severely wounded units to everything fully healed in one turn. Something like a Balseraph Druid with Razor and Medic (II? III? I can't recall) can keep a stack moving very quickly.

Its especially good if you happen to have an army with 'crack' troops that attack and take most of the damage, along with weak troops that aren't that great at beating the stack. It really makes 'obsolete' troops very valuable.

Best wishes,

Breunor

it also can effect enimies, so if your stack gets hit by heavy collateral damage you can reflect some of that damage back at them, it might even kill some of their units

I use it in my NOTW :p

I haven't actually got as far to get it, but that damage-spreading tactic has been on my mind too.

What are the mechanics, exactly?

I haven't been using it because I'm not sure what it does, aside from damaging my units too.

Thanks.

It randomly redistributes damage between all the units within a 2 tile range, regardless of owner. If your units are already highly damaged you can pretty much be sure that your units will be healed, and your enemies will suffer more damage. Also, if you have a strong unit (like a hero) that is highly damaged and a stack of weak units at full health you can be pretty sure that it will heal your strong injured unit and injure the units that you probably wouldn't be using for fighting anyway (plus since there are more of them, they wouldn't be as injured)
