Cool cool Steph.

So what headphones do you prefer? The classic big ones or the earbuds?

Discuss&pollcoming.

The big ones for when noise-canceling is required. The small ones in all other cases.

Oh yes, btw, I always use the big ones, as I prefer quality over crappiness. :p

Headphones destroy your hearing, don't use them.
Scale the volume down appropriately and there shouldn't be any issues.

Earbuds are not comfortable for me, using them for any length of time causes irritation. I like slim headphones, at a level low enough that I can hear the kids screaming if (when) they start fighting.

The earbud things fall out of my massive ears; the big headphones slide off my greasy head. :(

Where's the in-between option? I find earbuds a bit uncomfortable, and lacking in sound quality, but I also find full-sized old-school ones to be unwieldy considering how often I move about. As such, I've struck a compromise with the Sennheiser PX100's - mid-sized, and they fold up to make for reasonably compact transport.

Well, I chose a world in extremes.

If you want to vote, you have to find the one that suits you better; if you had to choose one of two brands.

I can playback songs in my head when im not at my computer. So i dont need headphones.

Spoiler :
I need em for my work ;)

Big honkin' noise cancelling headphones. Preferably Koss if you're going in the reasonably priced range (below 200). I don't care if headphones destroy my hearing, there is no way you can listen and really get the most out of your music without listening to it on big honkin' noise cancelling headphones. Especially music with any sort of production value.

I don't know why this is such a common opinion. Reasonably priced speakers sound WAY better than really nice headphones. If you want really nice quality when walking around outside, you're out of luck without spending >$1000. It's impossible at "reasonably priced" range, because the quality you get from headphones will always be impeded by the lack of room headphones allow for it.

There's really no reason to have nice headphones. Listen to earbuds or cheap headphones when out and about, and when you really want quality, go inside and turn your speakers on.

These are the headphones I use at work (Sony MDR-V600)

I'm the only developer here, and it gets loud at times, and these things are so awesome that when you put them on and blast some tunes, it sounds like the sound is coming from speakers in the room - and they're comfy so at times you forget that you're even wearing them.

I don't care if people say: "Warpus is in leia mode" when I wear them, it increases my productivity ;)

When I'm in transit I use earbuds, though.

Earbuds if I'm on the bus or something. More convenient. Quality earbuds sound pretty darn good. If I was on a plane I might use some quality noise canceling ones. (But I don't. Do they work?)
