Hi all,

There's probably alot of people visiting this site because its the main place to get mods at the moment. I just wanted to put out a bit of a public disclaimer.

Since we're so early in the modding process, I'd strongly suggest to everyone - assume the worst in advance when using mods right now.

My suggestion - for what its worth:
  1. When you start your game, decide on the mods you're going to use and stick to them
  2. Do not install new mods part way through - if you do, be sure to disable them before loading your save
  3. Don't update the version of existing mods for the same saved game - unless it's after a firaxis official update and your Save is no longer loading
  4. Be careful mixing and matching UI mods. Currently, most UI mods are whole file replacements and they are likely to conflict with each other since they're all trying to address things like tooltips and banners.
  5. If Firaxis continues to push updates every few days, many mods are going to be broken - especially UI mods.
I've seen alot of appreciation given to the modders in the threads and I know they appreciate it.

I'd also like to say - don't bash the devs. The modding community can act quickly because we can break things or just not work. Any fix they do has to work everywhere, all the time.

You will never see the bugs they did fix.

While the UI may be rough, don't be mean to the "developers" who are working like crazy!

Management are people too, and who knows what pressures but it's not unreasonable to ask the company as a whole - but being disrespectful isn't going to improve the games you play.

This is a very important reminder. Let’s also not forget how fast the developers are keeping pace with you amazing UI modders considering the size of their org that they’re maneuvering.
