Oh for sure..no metal thread can be complete without Sabbath, i still listen to Paranoid quiet frequently i.e.

"Ratt" are probably not that well known (glam metal), but they made some great stuff:

I swear I was just gonna ask My if Korn qualifies at all, even though they are essentially the forerunners of Nu Metal. They had some killer tunes.


I particularly like this Korn one best:

iron maiden is a pretty good rock band, but I wouldn't really consider it to be metal - something like Rings of Saturn, Whitechapel, Cattle Decapitation or Krisiun would be a better fit for the genre

Metal...which metal? Metal has as many subgenres as rock, and together they have as many subgenres as rest of the music combined

That's something I never really thought about - a lot of the bands I listen to, I have no idea which of their songs are best know. BiB for example, I've been a fan of their's since they started - the lead guitarist of Battle Beast left to start his own band, so of course I was in for it - and I listen to all of it, so I don't really get a sense of how individual songs art more widely thought of.

Speaking of Battle Beast, they've put out a very good album recently:

And listening to Noora has me thinking of other great female metal singers, so lets just have something by the best:
