I was able to fairly easily add additional units to the Final Frontier mod so I thought I had a pretty good handle on how this stufff works but...

I wanted to add additional unique units for various civs and do it with the modular loading so I could play with and without them.

So I created a mod and a modules folder under assets. I edited the ini files to allow modular loading. I created and edited these files inside a folder under modules: Extra_Units_CIV4ArtDefines.xml, *_CIV4Civilizationinfos.xml, *_CIV4UnitInfos.xml, *_CIV4GameText.xml. I copied and renamed the associated schema files. I'm not an artist or a 3d modeler so for now I'm using unit graphics files from the game, I copied all the nif, dds, kf files related to the unit into the folder and made sure the xml points to those files.

So when I load the mod the civ doesn't have the extra unique unit and it chows up in the civilopedia as a unit under units but has a pink box for the unit picture and the civilopedia page is empty except for th unit name and the same pink square. The tool tip that comes up if you mouse over the pink square on the units civilopedia screen has the right stats and says that the unit replaces the right unit.

So is this a matter of you can't add additional unique units to a civ? Is it a problem of having teh civ load in the regular game load and then trying to load a modified version civ later? And why isn't the graphic or civilopedia text showing up(I did right some pedia text)?

I've resolved all the graphics and unit text issues.

However I cannot get the modified civilization to work. Does anyone know if Civ4/BTS will allow multiple unique units for a single civilization?

Yes, Fall from Heaven has upwards of 20 for each civilization (if you include the NONE replacements to block use of units). Maybe you are not formatting it quite properly? Could you past your Civilization in [ code] [ /code ] tags?

My bad. I somehow put an 's' in *_CIV4CivilizationsInfo.xml. Kind of an amazingly dumb thing to spend 4 hours trying to figure out.
