What I mean is on the main screen (not on the city one) i can't see the name of the city, i only see blue blocks instead of the letters and i can't see the numbers (the one's that appear in the circle or star on the capital city) i can only see a black rectangle instead of the numbers. what's wrong?

Hi ramonojo, welcome to CFC! :goodjob:

Believe it or not, I get this same problem (see related thread). So far I haven't found a solution. What are your computer specs?

well i do remember downloading the game, well not the game but the demo, from some official place and that's how it looked. but when i bought the game and installed it would still look that way. so i guess maybe there's some kind of connection, one file or something like that that ir overriding an original. i am only speculating of course.

I doubt it - I've tested Civ4 on two comps (mine and my brother's) and one I did the demo -> then the game, and once just the game. Both times I got the blue blocks.

BTW: What is your video card?

Start -> Run -> Type dxdiag. Wait for the dialog box to appear, then click "Save All Information" to your desktop or such. Then, when you reply (hit Post Reply, not the Quick Reply box), use Manage Attachments to upload that .txt file to your post. I'll check it over.

Operating System: Windows XP (5.1 Build 2600)
BIOS: 686Y4 v1.03
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1900+, ~1.6GHz
DirectX Version: 9.0c
Display: NVIDIA GeForce 2 (32.0 MB memory)

Hope that helps!!

Ramonjo: I had the same problem but I fixed it when I installed the latest NVIDIA drivers (I found this solution in another thread).

ok, i don't know that much about computers, so can you tell me how to donwload those latest NVIDIA drivers. Or can you hook me up with the link you found the solution or can you tell me what to do. Because it's pretty anoying not being able to see the names.

I had the same problem because my video card didn't have enough memory. I had to upgrade my card to one with 256MB memory and the problem was solved. Your video card is underpowered according to your specs. I imagine you have tremendous lag during gameplay also. A new video card will resolve that also.

Thankyou that solved my problem

I have an almost similar problem:

Playing for the first time, I chose the 'Greek World Scenario' (in the Greek World Mod) and all was working properly.

But if I want to play without the Greek World Mod, the city bar (with name, size, religion, production...) is empty. (Always all cities on the map)

• Patch 1.61
• NVidia GeForce FX5200 (128 MB)

Deleting the cache doesn't help.

What to do? I don't want to play only in Greek World :mischief:
