(HELP) Civilization V does not extract the files .civ5mod

You could extract them manually. .civ5mod files are just .7z archives.

Note that when you extract you want to choose the option to create a folder to unzip them to, since the archive doesn't have them in a subfolder.

Windows, OS-X or Linux? What version of the game? (it's the number like 1.0.x.y at the bottom of the Main Menu page). Which sub-directory exactly are you copying the .civ5mod files into? And have you navigated into the Modding Screen (and if you have lots of mods, then waited sufficient time for the game to find and unpack all of the .civ5mod files)?

Windows 8, Civ V version: 1.0.3.144, mods are in "MODS" directory.

That's very, very weird. Did the mods come via Steam or manually downloaded? If the latter, does the user that the Civ5 executable is running as have read permission on the .civ5mod files?

If you manually extract one or two of the .civ5mod files, do the mods show up in the Mod Browser screen?

If you subscribe to a mod via Steam, does it work, and if so, does the mod sub-directory show up in the MODS sub-dir that the .civ5mod files are located in? (Both Win7 and Win8 do weird virtualization of the directory structure, so sometimes what you're looking at isn't actually where you think it is!)

The workaround is still viable. If you have 7-zip or Winzip or WinRAR (or many other programs of that ilk), you can select all of your .civ5mods, right-click and extract to new folders.
