Help Getting Started

Hi, I'm just starting out here. I technically started a week or a bit more ago, but havn't played b/c I got so frustrated. There's not much of a tutorial for this game and I'm having an awful time. Now I just loaded my game and it says "game over" and I can't do anything at all! My first quest was to "win an era." How do I do that? I really hate to sound so dumb, but I'm afraid I need a bit more of a tutorial in what to do and how to do it. Thanks!

The games typicall last 5-10 days.

Once a game ends you need to join a new game.

Go to the throne room (lower left thrown button)
Select 'My games' tab across the top
Join a game (Farthest left middle row, best option)

There are many ways to win an era. The current conditions required to win an era pop up when you hover over the current era icon to the left of your city name.

The simplest era type to win in the early stages is usually a tech era.

The best way to learn the game is to join a civ and start asking questions on Nation chat. If you are not answered or not well received, join a different civilization. Look at what they game leaders are doing and ask them why they are doing it. Its a social game, many are happy to help.
