How Do You Add Mods To The Game?
I downloaded a mod all it came with was an assets folder, Configuration settings document, and a readme with nothing on how to put it on.
How Do i use it

it goes in your linked

civ4custommods

folder (my Documents \ My Games \ Sid Meier's Civilization 4 \ Mods \ or something similar typically).

Then have a folder for the mod, so now you have a directory setup that looks something approximately like:

mydocs\mygames\civ4\Mods\TheModYouAreGoingToUse\Assets\

Then you have to load the mod through the load mod menu, or you can set it in your civ4 config file (search for 'mods' and you'll find the setting).

no dont do that. The correct way is to unzip it to:

C:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Civilization 4/Mods/YOUR MODS NAME

Either will work I think. The "My Documents" method will only install mods for the user who puts it there (XP).

I remember that in version 1.0 of the game, if you played a mod from there, the game crashed when you tried to save. Haven't tried since.
