Hi all!

Could you people help me? My problem is downloading, well, not that, but playing Multiplayer Gold Edition.I have downloaded fantastic world to another copy of civ 2 and its working out fine. I downloaded MGE to another copy but I dont know what to do then? Download was success,i quess, because everything seemed to go allright.I pressed civ2.exe file, but it seemed normal civ2 and I didnt find any multiplayer options. There has appeared some scenario.exe,or something like that, but its only for scenario making. In my civ2 folder is 5 folders like civ2MGE1,civ2MGE2 and so on.Those have appeared after I downloaded MGE.In civ2MGE3 is civ2.exe and civ2map.exe.I tried to play that civ2.exe but my computer complained that starting this program didnt work, because file named xdaemon.dll was missing. So my questions are,is that civ2.exe that one, where I can play hotseat, and whats that xdaemon.dll? Does it come with downloading or is it some different file? Please, could you help me and try to remember what did you do,when you have downloaded MGE.I know, that my stupid questions may not belong in this forum section, but I thought that here can I find some real skillful civ2 players.
Thankyou for your time,

Yours,

Serieafan

Extract all the files from the folders like civ2MGE1 and civ2MGE2 and like into the MAIN Civ2 Directory. All the EXEs,DLLs and such should be in the main directory. After this,it will then work.

Yes,that EXE found in that directory is the MGE multiplayer one.As I said above, put all the files from all the MGE folders you found in the main Civ2 directory into the main civ2 directory.

Glad to be of any help.Any problems after, jus say.I'll see what I can do for you. :)

I have tot patched for use with windows xp, my trouble is that although I can join a game someone else is hosting when I try to host, they just dont seem to be able to connect to my game. It just comes up connection failed on their screen. Nothing happens on mine

I have found that the big ass 5 part download does not work at all. The exact same thing that is happening to you, happened to me. So, I went to "Cedric's Civ 2 Site" page and downloaded the single 11MB download and it works almost perfectly. (Link below)

The only screwey things that happen is that you have to sit through the minute long intro (it won't let you Esc out of it!) which only plays music, and gives you a "decompress" complaint and a blank screen. After the intro, it works perfectly, except that there are no scenarios.

At least in single player it works perfectly. I haven't been able to play multi-player. I've had it a week and I still can't find anyone to play me. Who do I have to f*&% around here to get a game going?:)

Here's how to get the file:
First, make sure you've got v2.42 (you probably have it). Start Civ2 and open a game. Pull down the "Game" menu and click on "Game Options". At the top of the box that appears it'll have a number after "Civilization II". That's your version.

Re-install the game. You want it "clean".

Then go here:
http://hometown.aol.com/cedricgreene/Download.html

Towards the bottom of this page there is a section that says "MGE
Exe's". That's what you want. NOT the zip files.

Once you download it, click on it and it leads you by the hand. Very simple! Very nice!:) Have it dump everything in your Civ2 file, overwrite everything. Start the game and find something to do for a minute while the "mandatory" intro plays through.lol

If you get it working you'd better play me serieafan! ;)

While I'm here: I've got a thread going asking if anyone wants to play. Please! For the love of God! Will somebody play me? I ain't too proud to beg!lol
