Finally my mom had the guts to reject AOL's offer for more free months (maybe because they charged her for one month AOL promised free), so it's like yay. We've had cable for almost two months now and AOL is on to us trying to get us to quit.

So our service is supposed to be disabled by 7/26. Today I found when I launched Trillian that I COULD NOT LOG IN. I was wondering why, then I figured out that probably my aol account (using it as an aim) was disabled.

So I went to aim.com and tried to register the name (hbdragon88) again. But it said that it had already been used! Obviously it has not been deleted. And I cannot login to AIM.

Is there anything I can do? I would prefer not to register a new aim name or wait until my aol account is deleted (if ever; I know aol sends out emails urging you to reactivate it)

Wait, let me get this right - was your screename hbdragon88 your AOL screename or AIM screename? If it was an AOL sn and you cancelled your account then you cannot access it through AIM or Trillian because it's not the same type of account. If you wanted it to be your AIM screename you would have had to register that one seperately. It's possible someone else registered your SN under AIM if this is the case.

However if hbdragon88 was just an AIM screename that you had and you cannot access it through Trillian, then most likely you have an out of date version or need the fix for it. Either that or AIM has temporarily locked your SN (they do this from time to time and it automatically fixes itself within a day or two)

Post your results/let us know if there are other problems or something I missed.

hbdragon88 was my aol screename. When I typed it in Trillian - same name, same pass - it worked as an AIM name. I had to reset the password for it to to work. I didn't have to register it separately.

There were no connectively problems; there supposedly were in an update, but I downloaded the .74 patch to fix that issue.

No, I don't think anybody registered hbdragon88. The problem I get when I try to connect through Trillian is: " Error logging into AIM: Unknown code 17" The only possible reason is that it somehow got locked.
