Help me to Raise the max xp a unit keeps when upgrading, and more

Hey,
I have Civ 4, haven't installed any expansions yet, but I am patched up to date.

I don't think this needs a mod, so can I just edit the XML files or something to accomplish this? Will it effect all games that I play single player?

What I want to do is simple. You know how when you upgrade a unit with tons of xp, the xp is always reset to 10. I want to change that to 30 or 40 or 50.

Also, I wish to make the baracks give +5 xp instead of +4, and change one of the civics to do 1 more xp aswell, but I think I can figure out this one on my own, so my main problem is with the one above. Any help on this would be great.

It is a global defines parameter IIRC. btw, you are posting in an area where people create new topic to answer question of others not the opposite.
