Help needed yet again about stupid Nvidia drivers.

Nvidia driver problems yet again... UGH!

Can anyone help me, I have a Geforce 9600M GS 512MB videocard on my laptop with hybrid SLI power. I downloaded the latest driver for this video card being 266.58 for notebooks. Still everytime I start up my computer I have to switch it on standby mode and back to be able to get a response for my password and everytime I try to enable the Hybrid SLI it just does nothing, or goes blank....

Please help!

Did you try de-installing the driver, and re-installing it?

If that doesn't work, you could downgrade the driver until the next update.

Or possibly use a third-party one. (My old machine's graphic driver was really touch-and-go, it would crash every month. So I ended up using the Omega drivers, which were rock-solid compared.)

If reinstalling the driver doesn't work, try rolling back to an old one. Make sure you clean out all your old drivers as well, I've used Driver Sweeper for this (I think its listed in the free software thread).

I'm a bit confused about the 'hybrid SLI' part. I could google it but I'm busy at work.. Isn't SLI used for linking 2 video cards together?

Are those drivers from the nVidia site or from you laptop's manufacturers site? My Asus laptop would just not work with the official nVidia drivers.

Hybrid SLI = IGP+GPU, for a little bit better performance, i believe they also used id to save power (by turning off the GPU and working with the IGP) when eg. surfing the net.

I believe Hybrid SLI was killed by a mixture of unfortunate circumstances (mostly the recently resolved Intel-nVidia licensing feud) and replaced with the nVidia Optimus technology which only does the power saving thing.

Yes, they are the official drivers from the Nvidia site. I already went back to my old driver, but it is pissing me off that I can't play Fallout: New Vegas on high quality, because it can't boost my performance.

That said, there was something that caught my eye. It said that the Nvidia control panel wasn't updated so maybe that is the problem.

Hybrid SLI isnt well supported by nVidia, as the configurations vary so much between the various manufacturers. You should be using the one your laptop manufacturer provided.
