Hey,

here is something that I won't have time to do myself but that does not require any programming skills and could help improve the mod in the long run. I would like to see where the unit art used for great people could be improved (starting with unit art from other mods). But to see that I first need to know what the current great people art in the mod is.

The easiest way to judge that is graphically inside the game. So what I would like to ask is a collection of screenshots that covers every unit art style across the early, middle, and late eras of the game. You can find the unit art style in CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml under the <UnitArtStyleType> attribute. Early art is used in the Ancient and Classical eras, middle art is used in the Medieval and Renaissance eras, and late art is used from the Industrial era onwards.

What I would like to have is a screenshot of all (male and female) great people types lined up in the same part of the map (e.g. an empty part of the ocean) in a consistent order for all unit art styles in early, middle, and late eras.

The most direct way to go about this is:
  1. For each art style type, find a civilization with that art style
  2. In the game, place all male and female great people in order on the map
  3. Take a screenshot
  4. Use world builder to add or remove techs so that they are in all three era ranges and take additional screenshots
To be able to place female great people with world builder, I think it should be sufficient to set bGraphicalOnly to 0 in CIV4UnitInfos.xml.

I need these screenshots both for the base mod (with its small number of unit art styles) and the Varietas Delectat module (which has a lot more unit art styles). Note that the version of the mod does not matter, you can use 1.17 for this.

Please upload the screenshots here using a clearly identifiable name, e.g. EuropeanEarly.jpg, EuropeanMiddle.jpg and EuropeanLate.jpg for UNIT_ARTSTYLE_EUROPEAN. The name of the associated civilization would also work.

Something like that? This is the base mod:
gp_art_ancient_middle_eastern.jpg
gp_art_middle_middle_eastern.jpg
gp_art_modern_middle_eastern.jpg

Yes, exactly!

I think vanilla DoC uses the same models for every civilization's Great People, can I get confirmation?

I'm looking through Varietas Delectat's models. Can someone:
- Confirm that it uses the same models as the base mod for all female Great People?
- List which unit artstyles exist? I'm having a little trouble finding in which file this is detailed.

The purpose of this thread is to find that out.

You can find the VD CivInfos at Assets\Modules\Varietas Delectat\XML\UnitArtStyles&CivInfos\VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml and the art style definitions at Assets\XML\GlobalTypes.xml.

Alright, here are screenshots of all the male GP in Varietas Delectat (though male spies have a female model that's different from the vanilla female one). Female models seem to be the same for everyone, same as the base mod. There are a couple missing because they wouldn't appear in the mod (such as a medieval American general that's the same as the various European models with a custom shield).

Can you just upload them here as images?

Okay, thanks for doing this!
