Help wanted for Ethiopian UHV

Hello everybody,

Sorry, I need some help again, this time for the completion of the Ethiopian UHV. I really thought I had it...

I validated the first 2 goals, and the last one is to prevent any European colony in Sub-equatorial and Eastern Africa by 1910. I checked on the site http://rhye.civfanatics.net/civ4/rfc-atlas.htm
the area to be covered. Based on the attached map, it really seems it is OK, however, I cannot validate the third goal. By the way, in the victory condition screen, the status for the third one in 1912 is "not yet", and not "NO". Was there a change of date?

By the way, the Ethiopian campaign is quite fun. Very difficult at the beginning, but once you get the Oromo warriors everything is much easier.
I was friendly with most civs during the game. By the way, in the attached map, I just invaded Walan from Mali, to be sure. Mali is vassal of Spain so I thought this was what prevented the victory, but even after taking Walan I still cannot get it.

You might want to post the saved game right before 1910. Based on your map I can't tell why it would deny you the 3rd UHV goal.

I can't open that save, are you not using BTS 3.19 perhaps?

reminds me of the problems I was having when I updated to 3.19 bts RFC without deleting the old copy of RFC beforehand.

Doing this can cause your games to say that it is a later year than it actually is.

try deleting the RFC folder in your mods folder and reinstalling.

I am actually using the original version from BTS (I did not download any patches since then, I was thinking that if I did, I wouldn't be able to use my current saved games).

Is it a bug from BTS which was later corrected by patches?

Probably not, but I can't investigate further due to the version issue.

I was wondering, did you conquer any of those cities that I can see in the screenshot after they were founded by a European civ perhaps? I know that independents wouldn't matter, but you might have to raze any cities that get founded by the Euros to meet the condition.

When I last played Ethiopia (which was a while ago), I never let the Euros settle anywhere at all in South and East Africa - and I definitely got the UHV as a result. I can't say for sure if capturing a city founded by the Euros would have made a difference or not.

If you did capture a city in your game, you could try erasing this offending city using worldbuilder from the turn before 1910 and see if you get the UHV as a result. Might be worth a try?

I can't speak for the older versions, but the code for the Ethiopian UHV in the current version checks for cities that are currently owned by euros at the deadline.

It might be a good idea to try what blizzrd suggested, though, because the unpatched version might be different. Maybe even delete every city in the region just to be sure.
